This a 1990 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ75 (70 series pickup) is a former fire truck from Japan. Like all fire trucks, it has been well maintained and garaged throughout its life. You won't find many vehicles this age in such great condition.
It has super low miles with an interior in better shape than many almost new vehicles. While the truck went through a suspension overhaul, the factory commercial-grade bushings, springs and shocks were also in excellent condition.
ABOUT THE TRUCKAfter delivery from our importer, the truck received a full maintenance overhaul. From there, a team of mechanics and I removed the fire truck's PTO-powered water pump, fire box and equipment. We then installed many OEM or industry-leading aftermarket upgrades. Upgrades include an ARB front bumper, Warn winch and full ARB Old Man Emu (OME) suspension.
Additionally, we designed and installed a rad overlanding-focused flatbed. The flatbed uses industrial t-slot aluminum rails supported by massive 14" aluminum I-beams. This combination of materials has proven strong and invaluable in our other off-road trucks.
The result is one of the coolest pickups in town with an unmatched overlanding pedigree. For those looking to build a super capable overlanding vehicle, this FJ75 is as rugged as they come. If you're looking to upgrade from that 4-door pedestrian pickup, this is perfect for you.
RIGHT HAND DRIVE STEERINGThe vehicle is right-hand drive, which is super rad and easy to get used to. You'll be comfortable after one drive.
Power steering was not included by the factory for this vehicle. This has not been a problem for me personally. Factory power steering parts are available through Land Cruiser specialty parts suppliers.
QUALITYThe vehicle has super low miles and was well-maintained by its fire department in Japan. It starts up like a dream and drives like brand new. The transmission feels fresh off the factory floor. The engine run smooth with gobs of low-end torque. A popular swap is for the inline-6 turbo diesel from an 80 series. We didn't feel a swap was necessary, given the low miles and smooth operation.
There is some rust present, which impacts the areas listed. We chose not to paint over these areas to make it easy to identify and clean up, if you choose to repaint. The frame has some non-structural surface rust. The exhaust system is super rusted. We suggest a full stainless replacement. The passenger floor board along the door sill needs a small amount of fresh sheet metal, welding and paint. If you choose to get it painted, the body shop can make this straight forward repair.
The interior is in fantastic shape. Plastics and vinyl are clean and look great after storage in a garage most of its life. The rear bench vinyl looks brand new. The driver's seat has a small seam tear. Our recommendation is to replace the front seats with Scheel-mann bolt-in units.
