1985 Toyota Land Cruiser

Vehicle Details

This is a 1985 FJ60 Land Cruiser project vehicle showing 319,733miles. Body is largely intact with original dark blue metallic 8B4 paint, and minimal previous repair work visible, most notably in the bottom rear quarter panels and roof (see roof picture). Minor surface rust and dings can be seen, but otherwise, rockers, door panels, fenders, and floorboards have no visible rot, rust, or previous repairs, minimizing the need for extensive body work prior to new paint. Windshield needs replacing, but all other glass is intact. Front and rear bumpers / extensions, and chrome rear license plate light are all new this year (Toyota OEM, ~ $1,500). All trim, emblems, grill, and light lenses are intact and in reasonable condition with no cracks. Tires are Firestone Destination LE 31X10.50R15LT, with approximately ¼” tread, mounted on 16” painted OEM rims. The interior shows its age and is original except for replacement front bucket seats and a Tuffy center console. Dash has cracks, rugs and headliner need replacement. Dome light does not work, but to my knowledge other electronics are functional (including horn). The heat works very well, the air conditioner does not blow very cold air. Checking the comments from the previous seller, he stated: "the AC blows cold (new condenser and dryer R134A)". Perhaps then it simply needs recharging(?). Power is delivered by a stock in-line six (assume original but do not know), with working four-wheel drive and four speed manual transmission. Starts (after pumping accelerator) runs, shifts, and brakes. Immediate needs are a new muffler and tune-up or carburetor re-build (in my estimate, to minimize need to pump pre-start). Some minor leaking can be seen on my garage floor but I am not sure what.All-in-all this is a solid project car with an excellent following, which will bring nice appreciation for the right person with time and expertise, which was my intent upon purchasing last year, but as always, there never seems to be enough time. Please feel free to contact me with any questions. I will do my best to respond asap.
