Description:

1976 Toyota Land Cruiser

You are bidding on a beautifully restored 1976 FJ40 in rare Nebula Green with 86,500 original miles.

Frame-off restoration was done about 1,500 miles ago in late 2015. Rebuilt original 2F engine starts immediately. It's strong and full of life and does not burn any oil. The clutch is solid and smooth and all gears shift flawlessly. Brakes work perfectly.

At the time of restoration the truck got new shocks, new spark plugs, new battery, new cables, new turn signals, new lightbulbs, new air filter, new upholstery on seats, new headliner, new rubber window seals all around, new weather stripping all around, custom cut floor mats and five new 31x10.5 BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A tires.

Since I've had it, I put in a new clutch slave cylinder, new alternator and voltage regulator and had the electrical gone through so everything works; I can't stress how nice that is. All gauges work, the dash lights work, hi beams/low beams, turn signals, side markers, hazards, two-speed fan, two-speed wipers all work. I have a clear Illinois title for the vehicle in hand.

The only strikes against I can think of are it needs some additional weather stripping on top of the back right door. It's good in light rain, but a downpour or at the automatic car wash you're going to get some water dripping in. The fresh air pull cable on the dash needs to be connected to the little trap door on the passenger firewall. The driver's seat backrest is not quite straight. It doesn't bug me because I'm not leaning back when driving, but I figured I'd mention it. That's about all I can think of.

If you've read this far you're a fan. I've owned three so I understand. It's getting more and more difficult to find an original and unmolested or nicely restored stock FJ40 like this. This isn't one of those $80,000 showroom trucks that make us all mad, it's got its squeaks and rattles and character. This is a solid, beautiful daily driver that has most of its life ahead of it. This truck needs nothing but a new home.

I'm centrally located in Chicago IL so it could easily be picked up by a transport company or driven away. I'm happy to help the buyer set up a uShip request for pickup as I've done that once before.

This Cruiser was bought by the previous owner at Mecum for $40,000 (Lot W103.1 Kissimmee 2016) and I've made my starting price a little below that to get things going. Please e-mail with questions. I will send any pictures you'd like. If you're nearby you can take a look in person anytime.
