1986 Toyota Pickup SR5 4X4

This is one of the most popular trucks ever built globally. It's known to the rest of the world as the Toyota Hilux, but for some reason is called an SR5 here in the U.S. Regardless of the name, these are nice driving, tough, and reliable little trucks. Check this one out. SR5 stands for Sport Rally 5-speed. The camper/SUV version with all the same running gear was renamed the 4Runner. Just about everyone has known somebody... who has owned and loved their SR5 or 4Runner. On this one, the color matched camper top with a little bit of extra height really comes in handy for hauling bicycles because it clears the handlebars, for contractors loading up extra tools, or for actual camping in the truck bed. There is even a roof rack for canoes, kayaks, ladders or extra gear. Tan with Gold stripes blends in nicely with the woods at a campsite and looks really sharp thanks to a midlife respray. Everything looks straight and clean including the grill and bumper up front, the back bumper which includes a receiver for a trailer to haul extra toys or tools, and the outrigger mirrors to enable you to see around that trailer and the chromed steel wheels. Open the door and you will find a comfortable and simple, but nicely trimmed out cloth interior. The door panels set the tone with a cloth center section with a comfortable armrest and a door pocket. The bucket seats are supportive and comfortable with a center console between them. A two spoke steering wheel has a Toyota horn button in the center with lights and wiper control stalks to either side. The stock dashboard is simple with all the gauges easy to read including a tach and speedo in the center flanked by fuel, water temp, oil pressure and battery voltage meters. The ventilation controls include those for air conditioning to keep you cool on those hot summer days and a CB radio is mounted just below the factory FM stereo. Shifters for both the 5-speed manual transmission and the transfer case rise from the floor in the center and heavy-duty vinyl mats protect the carpeting. Open the hood and you will find the tried and true 2.4-liter 22 R-E engine that is completely stock with signs of good regular maintenance. The E designates it as the updated fuel injected version of this engine which was introduced in '83. It has proven its durability and reliability in both carbureted and fuel injected forms as well as its ability to handle surprisingly heavy loads for a compact pickup. 1986 saw a significant redesign to the front suspension which went from a solid axle to an independent torsion bar setup with a sway bar which made this truck ride and handle much better. Power steering provides great maneuverability in parking lots and power front disc brakes provide good stopping ability. The rear suspension is a solid axle sitting on multi-leaf rear springs. There is a shield protecting the gas tank and a full-sized spare is mounted out of the way just behind the axle. Those sharp looking chromed steel wheels mount like new 235/75R15 Michelin tires. Come on down and check out this clean little SR5 pickup with the extra height cap and see why they are one of the most popular trucks in the world.
