This beautiful vehicle gets a lot of attention everywhere it goes, and is rarely upstaged by anything at cruise ins or car shows.

The Toyota Century began limited production in 1967 and continues today. This 1991 (VG40 chassis designation) model is a first generation example, which continued until 1997. The motor is an all aluminum, hemi headed V8 that was only available in the Century and was co-developed by Toyota and Yamaha. The Century was primarily used by dignitaries, heads of state, and the very wealthy, but was never imported to the U.S.A.

Meant to be chauffeured, most of the luxury is focused on the rear passengers. This example has power reclining, heated and massaging rear seats, as well as a pass though in the front passenger seat for the rear passenger to put their feet up. It also features an infrared remote control for the audio, separate rear climate control, and a tape recorder hidden in the rear arm rest. Other features include but are not limited to a cool box in the rear package tray for drinks, auto dipping high beams, auto leveling rear air suspension (that does not leak like most VG4x vehicles in the USA) and automatic climate control.

This Century is in impeccable shape. Mechanically sound, with no rust to speak of, I would drive this car anywhere without hesitation. In fact I did drive it from Southern California to Monterey for Car Week and back without a single problem. The only issue currently is that there is an intermittent battery drain while parked. The car can sit for weeks at a time and fire right up, but sometimes after sitting for 3-4 days it will be flat. I have narrowed the issue down to the "room" circuit, and am near positive its something that I am neglecting to turn off (all controls and manuals are in Japanese and do not translate easily, so I'm constantly learning new things about the car). I have a brand new AGM battery installed. All power functions (seats, windows, triangle windows, fender mirrors, etc) work as they should. There is no indication that this car was ever smoked in.

The only modifications from the factory are the window tinting, and second generation Century (GZG50) alloy wheels using hubcentric H&R spacers. There is no rust and the car carries a clean South Dakota title. The diplomatic flags are an add on accessory, are included in the sale and can easily be removed. Original owners manuals do accompany the car, as will a chauffeur hat. Rarely seen on imported cars, this Century has both keys: one that has the engraved "Century" script that opens the doors and starts the car. The other key has a hand engraved Fushicho (from Japanese mythology) that allows access to the trunk as well as all other functions. The Fushicho embroidered doily seat covers are also rare to be seen accompanyingan imported vehicle and these are in impeccable shape.

The vehicle can be shown in or near Simi Valley, California with a days notice. There is so much about this car to learn about... I HIGHLY recommend seeing the vehicle in person (or by a qualified 3rd party) to get the full experience of the car. Please check your local laws about registering this vehicle in your state. This is NOT currently able to be registered in California without CARB mandated modifications.

I have several more detailed pictures available on request, and can take any specific pictures though the course of the auction.

Here is a short walk around and drive video:https://youtu.be/NFDTsk_dL0oPlease note that the loud noise whileaccelerating past 19 kmph is the auto door locks activating... and is not as loud at the video would suggest. Its actually just that quiet in the car while driving.
