Ultra-rare, period correct 18-RG twin cam engine with dual side-carburetors. This is the engine that originally came in the GT version in Japan only-JDM (U.S. cars came with 20R, single cam, low horsepower engines for CA emission restrictions).
Original 20R engine included in sale: 100% original with all original emission controls, Excellent condition with 78,000 original documented miles.
Both engines, as well as the car is in Excellent running and driving condition.
Stored in climate controlled garaged and only driven on summertime weekends.
Many more invoices for oil changes including date and mileage back to 1977. Original window sticker, invoice and many pages of documentation back to 1977.
Additional set of Twin cams that came with the very special 18-RG engine- Note that they are in their decades old paper wrap (see photo).
The background on this 18RG JDM engine is that it had just been pain-stakenly rebuilt and prepared for 2.0 liter racing in California when the celica that it was in was totaled during a race. I was told that the second set of cams have a different grind prepared for different types of tracks on the racing circuit
This car is worth taking a trip to see it in person. You will be amazed!
Feel free to request more photos.
I've had this car for 13 years. My first car was a Celica in high school and I spent several years searching for the best, most original, low mileage example possible. I had this car transported to me from the West Coast. I spent the next four years searching for a period correct original 18-RG twin-cam.
I have great sentimental connection to this car and unfortunately forced to sell due to divorce.
I will assist in arranging buyer paid shipping/transportFeel free to contact me with any questions or further details (401)338-0272
I added more interior photos. As you can see every button and knob is present and functional as it was on show room floor in 1977, even the computer works!
