1986 Land Cruiser Chevy V8 Resto-mod
1986 Toyota Land Cruiser Base
I'm looking to sell my 1986 Toyota Land Cruiser. I just purchased the vehicle on eBay 2 months ago as part of my move back to the US (I'm military and was previously stationed in Italy). I failed to realize that the county I moved to requires an emissions inspection. The emissions equipment on this car was removed when the previous owner installed the Chevy V8. Being that it would be too costly for me to attempt to add those parts now, I'm going to try and cut my losses.Below is the text from the original eBay listing that I won. Since I've owned the car, I've had the power regulator and alternator replaced due to some return amperage issue that was causing some electrical quirks and also had a new head-unit and 4 x speakers installed by a professional installer because of the amateur installation that was present in the vehicle. Other than that, this vehicle has been a blast to drive and the previous owner was spot-on with his assessment of the condition of the vehicle. The one thing that will need to be checked is the AC is not currently blowing cold. Send me a message with any questions you may have.
Whoever wins this auction is getting a great deal and an amazing Land Cruiser. My loss is your gain- lesson learned.
$2000 due at the close of bidding. All funds must be received prior to shipping. Buyer is responsible for shipping. The vehicle is currently located in Norfolk,VA.
Thanks for looking. I'll do my best to answer any questions you may have.
Here is the info from the original listing:
1986 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ60 resto-mod. 190,000 miles on chassis, under 10,000 miles on the motor and trans. The motor was running strong in this truck but the tranny had given up. Upgraded the motor with a 350 V8 that just underwent a complete rebuild and mated it to a rebuilt 700R4 transmission. I do not have any of the specs on the motor, but it's a pretty standard carbureted chevy 350 ci (late 80's I think, we also have a completely stock FJ60 and this one is SIGNIFICANTLY faster and still gets ~13 MPG highway). Holley Demon 625 carb, wrapped headers (probably aftermarket), new valve covers, new ignition, custom exhaust the trans shifts smoothly, 4WD still works perfectly. The truck was built a couple of years ago by the previous owner in Wyoming. Here is what was done then. New Old Man Emu lift, new 33x10.50x15 BFG tires(still like new), new 4:11 gears, new ARB touring roof rack, ARB front grill/bumper with an integrated Warn M8000 lb. winch, new IPF lights, new Tuffy lockbox; new stereo. This truck runs, drives and looks great. Unfortunately, it does have a little bit of bubbling in the paint on the passenger side over the wheel well and a spot where the paint cracked. The charcoal stripes were laid in the paint and are not decals. There is a scratch on the windshield (quoted $180 to for a new one). The interior is original and in great condition for its age, tear on door panel (see picture) rear seats are super clean. AC works great, trans shifts smooth, the motor pulls strong and sounds amazing. I daily drove this truck for 6+ months and took it on a few 200+ mile road trips without any problems. This FJ60 is the perfect weekend camping rig. Selling because we have another FJ60.
