1994 Toyota MR2 N/A 5-Speed
Once upon a time there was a tall semi-handsome bachelor. He buit things in his image, houses, cars, bikes, trucks, guns, computers, lives, etc... And then this girl moved in and never left, and now they have a red doberman love monkey. They are getting married in september and all of his previous creations will be transformed into funds for this new reality of a future where he builds nothing in his own image but their's together. On this the day of our King March 4th 2018 I present to you a Matte Red 94' Mr2.Achieving Matte Red status is not easy, it was not quick. It involves purchasing a red Japanese car in the early 90's (most were single stage paint i.e. no clear coat from the factory) and then parking it outside for about 20 years while covering the dash so it doesn't crack. An even spread of UV rays bombarding the paint will give you an awesome Matte Red finish that will literally absorb anything you put on it. Matte Red peel coat from any parts store is a dead ringer for it, you can spray it anywhere on the car and it blends in on its own by being absorbed through the pores that is the car's unsealed skin. I personally think it is the best looking color, the whole car is basically a honda Type-R or ferrari testarossa (italian for red-head) valve cover.
This car is a solid daily driver, reliability of a camry, cheapness of parts from a camry, and in the best looking MR2 body we ever got. The rarest as well. Or swap it and go nuts. Either way it is a rust free starting point that has never been wrecked minus a few light scrapes and bumps. It already has plenty of miles so you'll feel no shame in driving it. If you go buy a new car every mile you put on it feels like you're hurting your wallet because of how much you're depreciating the asset, whereas this can only appreciate in value for the most part. Here are the details, I will go in as detailed as you will get on any used car description most people on craigslist or wherever would leave 80% of this info out.
Interior: Interior wise it is high mileage but in great shape. THE A/C WORKS! As does the heat and everything else electronically, all the gauges work which is rare for these cars the tachs and speedos are bad about dying in the earlier years. The T-Tops did have a leak at some point there is a little rust on some parts of the seat tracks, but it doesn't appear to leak now as I guess it was fixed before I got it. The HVAC blower motor has a leaf or something in it that needs to be cleaned out (noise, this was before cabin air filters people). The radio works, the power antenna not so much. Steering wheel and shift knob show their mileage, as does the drivers seat, but the passenger seat and most of the rest of the interior is in good shape. They improved EVERYTHING for the 94' year without a doubt. I am 6'6" and I fit just fine in the car, so will you. T-Top shades are there as is everything else EXCEPT for the ashtray it is infact missing. I have the original booklets owners manual etc...
Exterior: Exterior wise we have already been over the paint awesomeness. It does have a dent to the drivers fender and a couple scrapes on the door. Somehow the front bumper didn't fade as fast as the body, which is reverse of most cars. But it shows no evidence of ever being in a real collision, all parts are original and the body lines are even. Really with just a paint job and minor minor body work the car would look perfect on the outside IF you don't like the Matte Red I honestly do and it is much easier to take care of. Being a 94' it has the unique spoiler and tail lights! Everything works light wise, headlights pop up and down no issues. All doors, hood, trunk, engine lid open and close just fine. The center caps on the wheels could use a silver spray.
Mechanical: Like I said it is basically a toyota camry with the engine in the back. Like every MR2 I have owned it needs work to the power steering rack, the pump/electronics all work but the rack needs new seals and either have the adjustment nut tightened or just rebuild/replace it. The engine runs great, doesn't smoke, overheat, leak, knock, or anything negative really. The 94' + MR2's got the latest revision of the 5S-FE so I wouldn't expect to have any issues, just do your maintenance and you'll be fine. It does have 260k+ on it so it will use a little oil but nothing spectacular. Trans shifts like butter into all gears, clutch works fine, brakes work fine, doesn't use any coolant, really the only things I would do if I had more time with it would be a steering rack, some different tires, an alignment, and replace the stupid immobilizer. The only annoying problem the car has is that sometimes you have to go through the door lock cycle to get it to start because one of the door sensors/immbilizer have an issue. I've never bothered to fix it because it is simple to get it started but in full disclosure it can be annoying. Right now I wouldn't recommend any long trips until you get that steering rack sorted out, but it is an easy fix for sure. Otherwise it is totally reliable and like I said before the A/C works!
Any questions feel free to ask entirely possible I forgot something but I try to do my best when selling anything. Thanks for looking!
