1981 Toyota Other sr5

This 1981 Trekker has lived most of its life in Colorado prior to being restored in North Carolina for Jack Safro and sold at the 2009 Mecum auction for $22,500.

Since 2009, it has passed through three owners, including myself. I've owned it since 2014, and outside of camping trips and trips to the mechanic, it has been mostly garaged. In that time, I've had the 22R replaced with a new Toyota engine (~1000 miles ago), replaced the missing catalytic converter, and had the carb replaced and dialed in. This car currently makes it through the strict Boulder emissions tests. I expect that it is emissions legal in all parts of the US, as all parts of the emissions system are currently present, and it is at the bottom end of the allowable emissions range.

The odometer reads 28,000 miles, although I suspect that is the mileage since it was restored. The Colorado DMV had it flagged for an odometer discrepancy in the 1990s, so I strongly doubt the 28,000 miles are original.

There is a quarter sized scratch on the passenger side front fender (which is visible in the photos), and a few very small 1/8" hail dents in the hood (which are not). I feel they give it character, but a new owner might disagree. Potential buyers are welcome to come take a look for themselves.

The interior is in great shape, and the factory stereo, AC, and SR5 package (including 5 speed transmission) are all present. The air conditioning blows cold, but is a R-12 system. I have not had to touch it in the time I've owned it, so converting seems like it would probably be a mistake. Currently the factory stereo is bypassed by a mini-amplifier with a 1/8" jack, so that you can use a phone for music.
I would not hesitate to drive this car anywhere in the country, and I would have no qualms about selling it to a friend.
