1986 Toyota 4Runner SUV

I bought this 1986 first generation 4Runner in 2015 as I am moving Costa Rica and thought it was the perfect vehicle for the jungle. I traveled 400 miles and paid top dollar for this one because of the condition it is in. Unfortunately, I am unable to take it with me as Costa Rica passed a law that does not allow importing vehicles that are more than 14 years old. : (

This old truck is special because of it's low miles (157k) and the bullet-proof 2.4 L 22R-E engine that should last forever. The previous owner did lots of work (>$3000) and the truck has a new head gasket, timing belt, wheel bearings, air conditioner and off road tires. My Toyota dealer says it is in very good mechanical shape. Has a new battery in last month.I have barely driven it since I bought it. Very little rust – all rust is shown in pictures. Some dings but no dents. Rear glass goes up and down using either interior or exterior switch. The rear wiper is disconnected and won't turn off when plugged in. 4WD working fine last time it was checked but of course you can get everything checked out yourself. Comes with Indian blanket pattern seat covers. Front seats appear to have been replaced and are in excellent condition. There is one split in rear seat as shown in pictures. The stereo works but could use new speakers. As you can see the door and head liners are in good shape for their age. Carpet is pretty worn and grimy – I planned to put in WeatherTech for Costa Rica. Triple ball trailer hitch mount accommodates three different coupler sizes so you always have the right size ball mount. The first generation 4Runner turns into a pickup truck by taking the back off. This only requires removing a few bolts. I haven't done this but saw pictures where the previous owner had. Open air back seat with roll bar. Looks like fun!

Please contact me if you want to set up a time to have a mechanic to check it out. That's what I did and bought it sight unseen. I was not disappointed! I hate to let it go.
