1980 Toyota Land Cruiser

NO RESERVE
TOYOTA Land Cruiser BJ40
11841 Original Miles and documented.
Same owner since 1995 and documented.
Purchased from a Fire Department in 1995 with 5468 Miles.
A TRUE Original and Exceptional car with matching numbers.
Now highly collectible.
Originally, this vehicle was purchased BRAND NEW in 1980 by a Government Agency as a part of a fleet for the Fire Department. The local Chief Firefighter used this car for his work duty.
Since it was purchased by a Government, there were all painted fire red, the same red color used or fire trucks, ambulances, emergency vehicles etc ..... It's is the official national color for emergency vehicle.
Then it became my personal vehicle when I bought it in 1995 with just 5468 original Miles (8800 Kms).
For the next 21 years, I drove this Land Cruiser very randomly and added an other 8731 Miles (13589 Kms).
As of today, this Toyota has 11841 original miles (19057 Kms) and documented.
While it was under the responsibility and ownership of the Government, I could not have access to the invoices but it was well maintained and always garaged.
All the mileage is documented while in my possession. I have all invoices for the maintenance that was done at the same TOYOTA dealership.
On October 2015, I have resprayed the chassis and the frame before importing this car to the US with me.
Now I realize that I can not do 70 mph on the freeway as this car is not intended for this purpose anyway.
The motor pulls strong and is 100% original. Injectors have been cleaned up by ultra sound in January 30 2016. The engine has never been pressure washed and it is NOT recommended to do so on those vehicle.
Those motor are known for their reliability. Huge torque and low RPM made them almost indestructible. Some are know for running over 1 Millions Kms. The torque is so huge that you can start on second gear and switch to the fourth at 15 Mph ... and will go forever.
All fluid were changed along with filters, brakes were checked on January 30 2016.
Transmission is 100% original, the Toyota shifts smoothly, no grinding noise, the clutch is tight as expected for such a low mileage.
The interior remains original, including the true leather seats that were an option for Chief or higher ranked officials.
There is the original tools inside the cabin and the original tool box with original tools in the engine compartment.
A little of history about those cars.

The Toyota J40 is the model designation for a Toyota Land Cruiser 40 series made from 1960 until 1984 (in Brazil, where it was known as the Toyota Bandeirante, it was made from 1968 until 2001). Most 40 series Land Cruisers were built as 2-door SUV with slightly larger dimensions than a Jeep CJ.

The model was available as the FJ40 series (with F engines) and also BJ40/41/42 (short wheelbase), BJ43/44/46 (middle wheelbase) or HJ45/47 (long wheelbase) designation where it had Diesel engine. Land Cruisers built in Brazil from 1968 to 1993 - with Mercedes-Benz engines - received OJ40/45 (OJ50/55 from 1973) series chassis codes and those built from 1994 to 2001 - with Toyota engines - have BJ50/55 series model codes.

The Land Cruiser's reliability and longevity has led to huge popularity, especially in Australia where it is the best-selling body-on-frame, four-wheel drive vehicle. Toyota also extensively tests the Land Cruiser in the Austra;ian outback – considered to be one of the toughest operating environments in both temperature and terrain. In Japan, the Land Cruiser is exclusive to Toyota Japanese dealerships called Toyota Store.

In July 1951, Toyota's test driver Ichiro Taira drove the next generation of the Jeep BJ prototype up to the sixth stage of Mount FUJI, the first vehicle to climb that high. The test was overseen by the National Police Agency (NPA). Impressed by this feat, the NPA quickly placed an order for 289 of these offroad vehicles, making the Toyota BJ their official patrol car.

As of today, it's still the ONLY car to have climbed the Mount FUJI ... EVER !!

1953 – Regular production of the "Toyota Jeep BJ" began at Toyota Honsya Plant (Rolling chassis assembly), and body assembly and painting was done at Arakawa Bankin Kogyo KK, later known as ARACO (now an affiliate of Toyota Auto Body Co.).

NOTE: this Toyota is legally imported in the USA, comes with a US Title under my name and is exempted from smog check as it is a vehicle over 25 years old and some states, will register it as a collectible vehicle.

I went through the tedious and the very complicated work of making the car US legal, so you won't have to do it and got it is registered in the USA, meaning I have a clean and clear Title on hand.
It has a speedometer in kilometers, inspected, approved by Florida Highway Patrol, Florida DMV and legal.

This car has been through several inspection at Custom Border Patrol (CBP), Agricultural Inspection, EPA, DOT, Highway Safety Inspection, DMV Inspection and passed all of them with flying colors.

The 1986 Toyota LandCruiser LJ73 is for sale also and has 22000 Original miles.
