Description:

1992 Suzuki Jimny Panoramic

This Jimny (VIN JA11174543) lived a full life in Japan before being exported from Kobe in September 2020. After landing in the US it was bought, slightly modified and used on an episode of Top Gear America. It shows 162392Km (100,600mi) at the moment. All basic functions of the vehicle work properly, I've made a more detailed list below. Below I provide as many details as I can on the modifications and condition. If you're considering bidding on this vehicle I suggest you spend a few bucks and go watch the show in which it was featured. That will give you the best idea of its great running condition. Go to the MotorTrend app and watch TopGear America Season 2 Episode 3 "Ghost Cars". I know it's annoying to have to use the app but you can figure it out on a tv if you're serious about bidding on this Suzuki. Here is the direct link:https://www.motortrendondemand.com/detail/ghost-cars/4844263/28802
It starts and runs great, you'll see there are oil change notice stickers on the door and jamb, it appears to have been on a schedule for oil changes until it was exported.
!! ATTENTION !! You need to understand these few details before bidding.1. This vehicle has NO US TITLE and is being sold with its import paperwork from Japan and a DMV Vin Verification from California.2. It's Right Hand Drive3. The rear differential is welded, if you wanted to drive on the street you'll need to change it out. As I understand the same ones that came in our Suzuki Samauri in the US will fit. No promises. 4. Located in San Diego - I'm NOT paying to ship but can organize to help meet a shipper or your buddy with a trailer.
Modified Items:After it was imported it was modified the following ways to make it suitable for the TV show episode in which it stared.-New wheels and tires with 30inch Kenda mud spec tires - (the spare does not match)-The shackles front and rear were extended using custom fabricated steel plating as you can see in the photos.-The rear differential was welded- this makes it go anywhere but also drive poorly on pavement- again, see the TopGear episode where it demonstrated it's inner mountain goat potential.-Battery mount is fabricated- (but hey, it has a battery mount!)-Front skid plate --Front Winch- comes with remote-Rear heavy duty custom trailer hitch
Tested ItemsHere's the stuff that works correctly:4wd Hi and Low5 forward gears and Reverse- I replaced the shifter bushing in the base of the shifter alreadyBrakesClutchDoor locksSteering- although the steering wheel is off by 20degrees to go straight at the momentHVAC Heat and Fan and mode selector work properlyDoors, trunk open close as they should.Seats all slide and tilt normally and the rear seat folds and slides as it should.Wipers, turn signals, etc function as expected.
Stuff to Fix- depending on your plans-AC- The AC holds vacuum and has a freon charge but will not start its compressor at the moment. I have an expectation that it will be easy to resolve with the switch or something simple. The compressor turns smoothly by hand.-Wiper seal in front left corner hub, photo included, it's leaking and a bit messy as it sits.-Exhaust system is mostly complete but has holes and will need some attention-Again about the rear differential.. unless you're only playing in the dirt you probably want to change it to a non-welded version.-Body work/ rust spots - The rust visible on it doesn't penetrate the body but does look raised and should get some attention to stop it. I had a rust professional from Ohio come and tidy up the front fenders to fix the rust and fix a few other spots. The photos should show the marginal body work. If you want it restored you'll be taking the body off and going through it. If you want to go play in the dirt you can probably chase the few spots here and there as they show up and keep the rust at bay as has been done so far.
Thank you for checking out the listing, I'll field questions best I can with what I know. I wanted to keep this project but realize I don't have the space and time. Do you?
