Several companies owned the Avanti name through the years, however, of all the post-Studebaker versions, it is the cars from Altman and Newman that are the most true to the original concept, and today, the are considered classics in their own right. We are very pleased to offer this outstanding 1977 Avanti II; one of just 147 built that year. This car has a well-documented history from new, and it remains in outstanding, original condition with just one high-quality repaint in the original color. The factory production order shows this RQB-series car (the second series for the Avanti II) was ordered by Sylvia Robinson of Fort Sill, Oklahoma, a military that moved frequently, but the Avanti always came with her. She eventually retired in Augusta, Georgia and sold her beloved Avanti to Roger Penn of Falls Church, Virginia. Mr. Penn is well-known in the Avanti community, as one of the longest-running Avanti dealers in the country and a highly respected ambassador of the marque. He then sold the car to the current owner, who is only the second private owner in 42 years. This car has been a cherished part of his collection for some time, and its sale represents a rare opportunity to acquire an outstanding, beautifully preserved and unrestored Avanti II.

Extensive documentation is included, such as the production order, invoice, owner's manual, service booklet, maintenance records and more. The car is presented in outstanding condition, with one high-quality respray in the original Buckskin Metallic color, and a beautifully preserved original interior. Ms. Robinson specified her car with a host of equipment, including a power sunroof, air conditioning, and electric windows. Power comes from a Chevrolet 350, backed by an automatic transmission. The interior is trimmed in "Rogue Pecan" with attractive almond-colored fabric inserts. All of the upholstery is in excellent original condition, including the plush carpets and matching door panels. The handsome color suits the body shape beautifully, with the chrome wire wheels with proper narrow-band whitewall tires adding the perfect period-correct touch. Bumpers and exterior brightwork are in fine order and the body retains a crisp and straight appearance.

The Avanti II was made in very small numbers, and prime examples can be elusive. This car benefits from many years of expert care in the hands of its owners, and it is sure to continue to bring enjoyment to its next keeper.
