Description:
1962 Studebaker Hawk GT
UP FOR SALE IS A 62 GT HAWK. OVER 100K MILES. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2012 NOT RUNNING. BROUGHT IT HOME, GOT THE BRAKES WORKING AND CONVERTED IT TO A CHRYSLER ALTERNATOR WITH ELECTRONIC REGULATOR AND CHRYSLER PICK UP COIL IN THE DISTRIBUTOR WITH GM HEI IGNITION MODULE. 289 2 BBL ENGINE RUNS GOOD. SWAPPED THE STROMBERG CARB FOR A HOLLEY CHRYSLER UNIT. STILL HAVE ORIGINAL STROMBERG. REPLACED UPPER AND LOWER RADIATOR HOSES, REPLACED ALL HEATER AND DEFROSTER HOSES. NEW PLUGS WIRES CAP ROTOR. RADIATOR WAS SENT TO RADIATOR SHOP AND REBUILT. WATER PUMP IS REMAN. HAS A CLUTCH TYPE FAN ON IT, BUT I HAVE ORIGINAL RIGID FAN. ADDED A SW TEMP GAUGE UNDER DASH BECAUSE I COULDNT FIND A GOOD WORKING REPLACEMENT. THIS CAR WILL DRIVE ANYWHERE. JUST FLUSHED AND CHANGED TRANS FLUID AND ADJUSTED THE REAR BAND ON THE TRANS. HAS NEW TIRES WITH AROUND 3,000 MILES ON THEM. NEW FRONT SHOCKS AND REAR AIR SHOCKS. IS FACTORY DUAL EXHAUST. TAIL PIPE ON DRIVER SIDE IS BROKE AT MUFFLER, SO WOULD PROBABLY NEED THE EXHAUST REDONE. HAS NEW REAR WHEEL CYLINDERS, REBUILT FRONT, AND NEW MASTER CYLINDER. REBUILT POWER STEERING PUMP. HAS POWER BRAKES AND STEERING (OBVIOUSLY) . FACTORY AM RADIO STILL WORKS. FUEL GAUGE SENDER IS NEW. I ADDED ON A SPIN ON TYPE OIL FILTER. ORIGINAL AIR CLEANER GOES WITH IT.HAS A VERY NICE INTERIOR. SEATS VERY GOOD SHAPE AS WELL AS DOOR PANELS. HEADLINER HAS ONE HOLE IN IT, BUT OVERALL GOOD SHAPE. PASSENGERS SUN VISOR FALLING APART, AND CARPET IS SHOT. OTHERWISE, REAL NICE ON THE INSIDE!
HEATER, WIPERS, EVERYTHING BUT WINDSHIELD WASHERS ARE IN GOOD WORKING ORDER. ALL LIGHTS WORK. THIS CAR WAS A DAILY DRIVER FOR ME. I WOULD TRUST IT TO GO ANYWHERE AND MAKE IT JUST FINE.
BODY: NEEDS NEW ROCKERS, WHICH I HAVE REPLACEMENTS THAT GO WITH CAR. FLOOR BOARD IS ROTTING ALONG THE EDGES ON BOTH SIDES BY THE KICK PANELS, BUT OTHERWISE SOLID. FENDERS STARTING TO RUST. TRUNK HAS RUST, AND I TRIED TO SEAL IT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE WITH SOME FOAM AND BODY SEAM SEALER. TRUNK HAS STICK ON INSULATION IN IT. REAR QUARTERS GOOD. HAS A RUST HOLE (PICTURED) BETWEEN PASSENGER DOOR AND WHEEL WELL. DRIVER SIDE STARTING TO RUST.
ENGINE RUNS GOOD, PROBABLY NEEDS VALVES ADJUSTED, SMOKES A LITTLE ON INITIAL STARTUP, AND OF COURSE LEAKS A LITTLE OIL, BUT IS A GOOD STRONG SOUNDING ENGINE. I REPLACED ALL THE FREEZE PLUGS IN THE BLOCK AS WELL.
I HAVE TRIED TO REPRESENT IT AS WELL AS POSSIBLE. PLEASE ASK IF YOU NEED MORE INFO OR PICS
