1965 Shelby Daytona Factory Five Type 65 Coupe

This is a 1965 Factory Five Racing Type 65 Daytona Coupe which has never been registered. It has been in a private collection since it's completion in 2014. It is powered by a Ford Racing 306 CI 340 HP crate motor matched to a Tremec World-class T5 5-speed transmission. This car was built as a tribute to the original Shelby Daytona Coupe but it does have air conditioning! The motor is a Ford Racing 306 cubic engine 340 HP crate engine, part no. M-6007-X302. It has hydraulic roller cam and Ford Racing aluminum "X" turbo swirl cylinder heads. Topped with an Edelbrock Performer RPM Air-Gap intake manifold and Holley 600 cfm square bore 4-barrel carburetor with electric choke and dual inlets. Suspension is a 3-link rear suspension with Ford 8.8 rear differential with 2.73 rear gears for easy highway cruising.

Wheels are Factory Five Racing gloss black 10-spoke wheels fitted with Nitto P315/35R17 tires in back and Nitto P275/40R17 tires in front. DOT date codes on all tires are 3621. Tires still have the stickers on them.

Body and paint is by Ken's Custom Auto Body in Yuba City, California, which is one of the best Factory Five painters in the country. It is finished in a beautiful metallic blue with white racing stripes. The blue paint really pops. It has a glass rear hatch (not plexiglass), RayDot Competition exterior mirrors, remote battery jumper posts on the rear, and a 22-gallon Fuel Safe fuel cell with a Halbro 255 LPH internal pump with return to support either a carb or EFI setup.

Interior is finished in leather suede dash and period correct Smith's gauges and vintage racing seats. It is equipped with a quick release competition steering wheel and Simpson 5-point competition latch belts. Interior has full Acoustishield insulation and Dynamat insultation throughout. Leather suede headliner with Accoustishield roof insulation. Features include In-door leather storage pockets and "Daytona" script rocker panels and Daytona script on the dashboard. Handheld fire extinguisher is mounted in front of the passenger seat. Master power kill switch is mounted between the driver and passenger seats. It is equipped with Vintage Air AC and heat.
