“This 1965 ERA 427SC is a Cobra replica that was produced as a kit by ERA Replica Automobiles of New Britain, Connecticut, and was assembled by Mustang Restorations of East Dundee, Illinois, around 1997. The car spent time in Illinois and Arizona, and the seller acquired it in 2020 and relocated it to California. Power is provided by a Ford 428ci V8 linked with a Toploader four-speed manual transmission, and the body is finished in Candy Apple Red with silver stripes. Details include a hood scoop, a roll hoop, a Jaguar-sourced rear suspension, 15″ Halibrand-style wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, and adjustable coilovers in addition to tubular exhaust headers, side-exit exhaust pipes, a Holley four-barrel carburetor, MSD ignition components, and Stewart-Warner gauges. The engine was rebuilt in 2021. This ERA Roadster is now offered with a black tonneau cover, a car cover, an assembly manual, service records, and a California title listing the car as a 2016 Shelby.

The fiberglass body was refinished in Candy Apple Red with Silver Medal Flake racing stripes in 2004. Details include a hood scoop, a chrome driver-side roll hoop, a Le Mans-style fuel door, fender vents, side-exit exhaust pipes, and chrome front and rear bumperettes. There is a chip on the leading edge of the hood scoop and scrapes on the underside of the front valance.

Halibrand-style 15″ wheels wear spinner center caps and are mounted with 235/60 front and 295/50 rear Goodyear Eagle GT II tires. The car is fitted with independent front and rear suspension, rack-and-pinion steering, and adjustable coilovers. Stopping power is provided by four-wheel disc brakes that include inboard-mounted rear units.

The dashboard and low-back bucket seats are trimmed in black upholstery and latch-and-link harnesses are fitted for both occupants. Equipment includes door map pockets, wind wings, and translucent sun visors in addition to a dash-mounted rearview mirror, a glovebox, a cabin heater, a fire extinguisher, and ERA-branded brake and clutch pedals.

The wood-rimmed steering wheel fronts a Stewart-Warner speedometer, tachometer, and auxiliary gauges. The five-digit odometer shows 10k miles, approximately 1,500 of which were added under current ownership. Total mileage is unknown.

The car is powered by a 428ci V8 equipped with a Holley 750-cfm four-barrel carburetor, an Edelbock intake manifold and aluminum cylinder heads, a K&N air cleaner assembly, and an MSD distributor. An engine rebuild in 2021 included a valve job, the installation of a COMP Cams Magnum solid roller camshaft, and the replacement of the gaskets, push rods, and connecting rod bearings.

Power is sent to the rear wheels through a Ford Toploader four-speed manual transmission.

The California BAR sticker lists the car as a 2020 SPCNS ERA Cobra and lists the VIN as ERA482SC, which matches the vehicle identification number on the “A.C. Cars” chassis plate and the California title. The title lists the car as a 2016 Shelby and carries a “Not Actual Mileage” notation.”
