1965 Shelby Cobra Everett-Morrison
We know that Cobra replica quality can be all over the map, but we invite you to examine this Everett-Morrison Cobra up close and personal, because it's one of the coolest we've featured in a long time. Better still, it's got some highly-desirable features, including a slick Emerald Green with gold-bronze stripes paint job that really stands out, and with 427 cubic inches under the hood, it backs up the look with plenty of go power. It's Emerald... Green Metallic, a seldom seen and highly respected racing color from the period (think of it as a modern take on British Racing Green), and it looks pretty darned good on the Cobra. In truth, it's always nice to see non-traditional but period-correct colors on the replicas, suggesting that the pros who built it knew exactly what he was doing rather than just going with what he thought was pretty. If you know the Everett-Morrison cars, you know that their "hand-laid" workmanship is well-regarded in the Cobra industry and the fit and finish on this particular car is worthy of all the extra scrutiny it's likely to get at shows. Painted-on metallic-bronze stripes are, of course, part of the package, but look closely and you'll see that they're buried underneath the clear for a look that really makes the stripes pop. Just look at the overhead shot and tell me you don't love the look! It's set up as an SC, so it has the flares, the jacking stubs instead of bumpers, a chrome roll hoop, glass windshield, and all the other fixtures that define the Cobra today. The interior is basic Cobra: wrap-around low back buckets, black leather, and minimal frills. However, for the business of driving, there are few better places to work. A thick wood-rimmed steering wheel communicates the front wheels' activities directly to you palms and even the shifter for the 5-speed gearbox has a correct forward cant to replicate the look of the original 4-speed. Attractive VDO gauges monitor all the important stuff and flip-up racing style toggle switches are just plain fun, while the carpets are plush and further protected by Cobra-script floor mats. No radio, no heat, nothing that'll slow it down, just pure performance that's in almost new condition. The trunk is reasonably spacious for tools and spares for your track day, or for a small travel bag on a longer trip. Tilt the hood forward and you'll find a legitimate 427 cubic inches of pure Ford muscle, neatly packaged inside the snug engine bay. A big Holley 4-barrel carburetor feeds an aluminum intake and Ford Racing emblems are proudly displayed on the finned valve covers and retro-looking air cleaner. It cackles through the side pipes like a machine that makes a ton of real-world horsepower and as you ease out the clutch in first gear, you'll understand why these cars remain so insanely popular year after year; the performance is explosive! The unique, fully independent four-wheel suspension includes beefy sway bars and power steering, and out back there's an independent setup that's agile yet supple, making this a Cobra you could use every day. 4-wheel disc brakes are powerful enough to dislodge the fillings in your teeth and hide behind 17-inch 5-spoke wheels that are absolutely perfect for a Cobra like this. Rubber is from BFGoodrich, measuring 245/45/17 in front and 255/45/17 out back to complete the killer look. Beautifully built, insanely fast, and supremely competent in the corners, this is the Cobra we all wish for when we entertain the thoughts of building our own. So why wait, this one's ready to go now. Call today!
