Description:

1966 Shelby Cobra

1966 Midstate's Cobra. a stroked 350 Chevrolet motor with turbo 400 automatic transmission. The previous owner told me that this motor has a stroked crank which makes this 406 cubic inches. I have no way of confirming his statement. He has since passed away so no way to really verify. There are no oil leaks or coolant leaks.

We have owned this Cobra for about 5 years and in that time I have replaced the radiator with a new aluminum extra capacity radiator from Summit. Also upgraded the alternator with a hi output chrome 100 amp unit. Less that 200 miles ago I had the transmission removed and totally rebuilt with heavy duty clutches and pump. I added the external exhaust as seen in the photo and had custom stainless muffler covers with "Cobra" cut into the muffler guard. The oil pressure is 50+ cold and 25/30 hot and 50 plus when driving. It does not smoke or burn any oil and we use synthetic 10/30. I added a new hi flow electric fan when I replaced the radiator. I also installed an mechanical temp gauge and in all types of weather hot or cold idle or at speed 190 is the constant temperature.

In the 5 years we have owned this car we have only put 350 miles on it. Its Paint and finish is very nice, not perfect and not a show car, but very attractive and an attention getter. Tires are excellent, chrome is good throughout. There are a few little chips in the paint nothing to be to worried about. It has never been in an accident and the glass body had no cracks or blemishes.
