The Story
I have always wanted to have a Shelby Cobra after riding in an original at a young age. Since purchasing an original is not an option for many of us, the next best option was to purchase and build a Factory Five Racing Roadster Kit. I have restored several 60’s era Ford cars and trucks and this way by far the most fun project. Mechanically and Visually this car is 100% show ready.
Purchased in the winter of 2012 from Factory Five Racing. Picked up the kit in MA and met the owner Dave (great guy). Assembled the car myself in the spring summer and fall of 2013. Paint and bodywork was completed in the winter of 2014 by a local body shop. Inspected and titled in Spring 2014. Finished and tuned the car in the summer of 2014. Since completion, the car has been featured in several local car shows and won top awards in class. Used primarily as a weekend cruiser.
Unlike most kit cars on the market which use refurbished / used parts to make the car run, everything on this car was purchased new. If you want a complete list of standard parts visit the Factory Five Racing website. Add on / penalization components listed below.
This car is a head turner. People constantly stop me and take pictures / videos of the car (see video). It is often mistaken for an original upon first glance which to me is the best compliment. Clean as can be (undercarriage included).
