B&B ROADSTER KIT W/ A FORD 302 V8, TREMEC 5 SPEED, WELL SORTED & RUNS OUT GREAT!
1966 Shelby Cobra Replica
There are plenty of genuine Shelby Cobras running around, despite their rarity and value. So when you build a Cobra replica, why not color outside the lines a bit and build something remarkable like this slick little B&B Roadster? From the cackling 5.0 under the hood to the surprisingly comfortable interior, it twists the standard recipe a bit to deliver something that's far more unique than "just another stock Cobra."The shape is familiar, but the beautiful burgundy paint is a bit more sophisticated than what Shelby and company were using while running around Lemans. It's also nicely applied over some very well-prepped fiberglass that captures the timeless look of the Cobra down to the smallest details. The hood scoop, the tiny doors, the chrome roll bar, and even the twin round taillights on each side very clearly say "Cobra" without anyone needing to look at any name badges. The paint is gorgeous two-stage urethane with a deep shine and lots of pearl and metallic in the finish, so it practically glows when the light hits it just right, and the twin stripes running down the center are almost iridescent. It's got a few small issues that are part of the deal on a fiberglass body like this, but even from five feet away, it's not particularly noticeable. Other details you'll appreciate include the front and rear bumperettes, the plexiglass wind wings, and the flip-up gas cap just sticking out of the passenger's rear fender.Low-back buckets certainly look vintage enough, but wrapped in black leather, they have an updated look that's probably quite a bit more comfortable than the original flat-backed buckets would have been. Add in some beautifully fitted carpets and you have a sophisticated-looking Cobra that's more user-friendly than ever. The black padded dash is full of white-faced VDO instruments, including a tachometer with a very conservative 6000 RPM redline. A stubby shifter with a color-matched burgundy knob manages a Tremec 5-speed manual gearbox, and there was no pretext of making this a daily driver, so the radio and heater/defroster were left off the spec sheet when it was going together, although the controls are there if you care to add them later. Just the same, it is a potent weapon on the streets, so harnesses were fitted for both driver and passenger, and the trunk is outfitted with matching black carpets and a cut-off switch for the battery. The big oval air cleaner, high-rise intake, and aluminum valve covers do a pretty good job of disguising the 5.0-liter V8 under the hood. Few engines are as modification-friendly as the Ford 302, and this one carries a bunch of goodies like an Edelbrock Victor Jr. intake, a Holley 600 carburetor, plus roller rockers under those valve covers. Obviously MSD supplied the ignition and there's a heavy-duty radiator to keep it cool under all conditions. Polished valve covers continue the performance look and what's a Cobra without side pipes, which sound downright fantastic. Underneath, the suspension consists of a Mustang II setup in front and a live 8.8-inch axle out back with 3.73 gears on an Auburn limited slip. Flashy chrome Cobra R alloys have been fitted and wear 245/45/17s up front and 285/40/17 radials in the back. With 11,437 miles, this Cobra is fully sorted and ready to rock. Great colors, plenty of performance, and a unique look make this one easy to love. Call today!
