1967 Shelby Cobra Replica Roger Upton Build Faster thn Ferrari

Hello,You are viewing my 1967 Cobra Replica with 5068 miles. This is a very rare authentic looking build. The kit is a RUCC Car Crafters English Roadster Build (Master craftsman Roger Upton was the owner of RUCC). It has the correct 90 inch wheelbase. This is a my 4th Cobra and in my opinion the build quality is just as good as a Backdraft, and the RUCC body has a thicker fiberglass construction. The only reason I am getting rid of this car is because i purchased a Kirkham. Please read all of the details about RUCC at the end of my listing.
The paint is a 1967 Goodwood green color that is in excellent condition with some very minor scratches or chips.
The black interior is very nice and roomy for a Cobra, I am 6' 3 and I am very comfortable. Some options that this car has; heat/defroster, wipers and AM/FM CD Stereo that is hidden in the center console.
Mechanically the car is excellent and wicked fast. Recent work that has been done in the past 100 miles, new clutch kit, new intake gasket, new clutch master and slave cylinder.

The RUCCBody is the straightest, best fitting body on the market. Our body is a true to dimension 90 inch wheel base, and is also true in shape to the original AC including fender lips, scoop and grill opening. Our body plug was professionally prepped before our mold was made with new high tech resin that does not shrink. In our lay up process we use a double lamination procedure with a skin coat. We use a DCPD resin which produces a stronger product with less imperfections than other resins normally used in the industry. The hood, trunk lid and doors all have full inner panels not just the outside skin. The inner hood and trunk lid panels have a 1/4 inch metal plate glassed and pre-threaded in to attach their hinges to. The inner door panels have the door bars bolted to them for the hinges to bolt to on the backbone chassis and the ladder frame the inner door panels have 1/4 inch metal plates glassed in and pre-threaded to attach the door hinges to. All this combined produces a higher quality body withunparalleled doors, trunk and hood gaps.Several auto body men claim they can have our body ready for paint in40 hours. The same body men say that on other kit cars they quote aminimum of 200 hours. Our kit pictured in the magazines has less than 40 hours of body work.

The RUCC body has great attention to detail for a cleaner look on a finished vehicle.

  • The body at the front and rear of passenger compartment has been rolled under.
  • The wheel well openings have been rolled under.
  • We have frenched in the vent openings.
  • We added door jambs, not only for looks, but to also give greater strength to our body.
  • We added a drop apron around the engine compartment not only for a more finished look but also to strengthen our body.
  • We squared up the headlight, taillights and wheel well openings so the body will look symmetrical as you view it from all angles.

  • BACKBONESSTYLE CHASSIS
  • The superior backbone chassis is less prone to promote stress cracking of the body due to its greater structural rigidity.
  • The handling characteristics of the suspension is enhanced by the chassis not flexing and allowing the front and rear suspension to work in conjunction with each other.
  • This provides a far superior ride quality without rattles and squeaks.
  • Greater durability, especiallyfor a car that is to bedriven and more especially for one that is to be raced.
  • Safety.
  • With the backbone design you can keep the weight down by using lighter tubing because the backbone section is adding the strength that can not be duplicated with large heavy tubing. We use 2 x 3 x 120 wall main frame rails. This gives an overall chassis weight comparable to a ladder style frame.
  • An example of a ladder frame twisting is a pickup truck when parked on an uneven surface the cab and bed do not line up. On ladder frame kits while driving down the road you can watch the gap in between the doors and the top of dash. This gap is constantly changing as you go around turns, in and out of drive ways, over rough sections of road. This is due to the fact that the ladder frame is twisting and the body is trying to absorb it. A body can not be mounted to a ladder style frame unstressed.

  • Passenger Compartment:

RUCC's backbone chassis passenger compartment has a full metal cage around it. The doors have anextensive inner structure for impact protection for the occupantsand also for mounting brackets, hinges and latches. The hinges, latches and strikers are allchassis mountedinstead of mounted to a piece of metal bonded to the fiberglass body or to a steel cowl hoop bolted to a fiberglass floor. Our hinges are massive and our latch & striker are industrial grade with a safety catch. Our seats and seat belts also mount to welded in metal. Unlike some mounted to the fiberglass floor and back panel.

    Ladder Frames

Some things to look for when looking at ladder frame kits. On the two frame ladder frames most of the out riggers they have welded on their frame rails do not go out any father than your outside leg. Look to see what the cowl hoop is attached to some of the kits have thecowl hoop attached to the fiberglass floor and firewall. Your cowl hoops attach your door hinges, windshields, brakes and steering columns. Most of the four frame rail ladder frames have the cowl hoop bolted to the outside frame rails. But as far as attaching doors with side impact protection to cowl hoops bolted on in this fashion there is nothing but thefiberglass body to keep the cowl hoop from just pushing over.Seats and seat belt attaching to your kit. On most ladder framesyou attach your seat and your seat belts to the fiberglass floorand you're suppose to use fender washers to spread the load out over the fiberglass. RUCC's backbone chassis and ladder frame has sufficient metal structure to attach your seat and your seat belts to.
  • Rear Suspension:We use the readily available and ever popular 8.8 rear axle assembly out of the late model Mustang. RUCC technicians relocated the suspension pick up points on the chassis to produce alower roll centerand moreanti-squatcapability. It hasrear weight jacksto adjust ride height for various size wheel and tire combinations, and gives the capability to adjust weight bias for on track handling adjustments. cut and paste rawilson.net/cobra/rucc/rucc_p8.html
