Description:

1987 Saab 900

Once in a lifetime opportunity to own the most iconic Saab 900 in movie history. This is the 1987 Saab 900 Convertible used in the movie, "Sideways." All provenance is included in the sale including a copy of the registration by Sideways, INC in 2003. Plus several other documents, original pictures with the writer Rex Pickett, and a sworn affidavit from me and my conversation with Academy Award Winning Director of Sideway, Alexander Payne. (super cool guy, we spoke for about 20 mintues regarding the Saab)
I've owned it for about 2 years and only driven it a few times. I've invested thousands in new parts as I'm a perfectionist and basically wanted the engine to be new. The Saab cruises down the highway straight as an arrow at 65mph. Here are just a few of the new parts I've invested in in the past couple years. (all parts have under 500 miles as I only drive the car once a month... if that.)
1. New Bosch OEM Alternator, New Battery, All New Positive and Negative Cables.2. New Alternator Belts3. New OEM (if available) heater hoses, coolant hoses, evap hoses, etc - every hose still available was replaced.4. New OEM thermostat, New OEM Thermostat Switch5. New Old Stock OEM Idle Control Valve6. 4 New High End Yokamaha Tires (more expensive then Michelins)7. New Bosch OEM Oxyegen Sensor8. Fresh Oil Change, Complete Engine/Radiator Coolant Flush, New PVC Valve9. New Air Cleaner, Replaced OEM Bosch Fuel Injectors, New Spark Plugs, Wires, and OEM Rotor Cap10. New OEM Bosch Fuel Pump, Fuel Filter, and all gaskets11. New Igntiion Coil with connectors (shipped in from Europe)12. The list goes on and on...
The car was originally silver w/black interior, but the Director wanted a black interior with red exterior. (Saab never made) So Alexander Payne had the car painted red. There was always a misconception that there were possibly 2 Saabs used in the movie. Upon my conversation with the Director, he clarified they used another Saab, but Frankensteined it and called it the, "Saab Camino" as they cut away the rear portion and made a platform for the director and cinematographer. (as seen in the movie with some interior pics and shots looking out the windshield) That car was apparently scrapped and was only used for utility purposes. 90% of the movie car shots are seen with this Saab 900... including where they crashed it into the tree/over the embankment. The car still has damage to the front spoiler and remains 100% accurate to what it looked like in the film. However, I did add a 4th hubcap which can easily be removed. (In the movie, Miles doesn't have a hubcap on his rear driver's tire.) The interior is a little worn and there's cracking on the dash, small rips in the seats, and the molding around the windows has been split by California sun - so don't expect a showroom car! Again, since I've owned, it's been in my garage the whole time. The Carfax is perfect, it's only been in California and Arizona - absolutely no rust anywhere! The mileage is 135,504, however the odometer has been a little tempermental lately. The fuel gauge and termperature gauge work, but not the tach or the clock. The heat works, the top goes up and down, all windows work, the radio works, but the AC does not have a belt on it... so not sure what the status is of that.
Please ask all and any questions prior to bidding. I'm more than happy to speak on the phone with any serious buyers. But again, a great car to own if you're a movie enthusiast and a Saab lover. Thanks and good luck bidding. (I can store the car for frree up until 2 weeks/whenever shipping is arranged... but that's obviously the buyer's responsibility) A $500 paypal deposit is required within 24 hours - after that I prefer a bank wire.

*Was hoping to correct some of the mispelled words - but Ebay won't let me change anything. IE: Then should be than, tempermental should be temperamental...etc. Ha/Ha!!!
*Some more new parts I forgot to mention: New Old Stock Fuel Pressure Regularator, ECU control module (used from a 1987 Saab with only 60,000 miles, new Bosch wipers, all new vacuum hoses/clamps - and the Saab had a complete Transmission Flush/adjustment by Sweede Masters in Santa Barbara when I purchased it back in 2020. (receipt included)

*Lastly, I can send clearer pictures of any part of the vehicle upon request. Unfortunately the camera I used is about 20 years old and is horrible. Realized this after the listing, some of the pics are blurry. Again, Ebay wont' let me change so please inquire for better pictures I can send via Ebay messaging. Thank you!
