1984 Rolls Royce Silver Spur. 85,656 miles. I have replaced a lot of parts.
1984 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit/Spur/Dawn Black
Built like a tank. Door are solid. Electric windows work. Transmission is great and rebuilt. Brakes work. Brake pump new. Tires in good shape. Battery good. Engine runs great, strong and smooth. rear lifts new. All records included and the original owner's manual.
Alternator: It went out. I took it to Coachbuilt, in Columbus Ohio. They replaced the Alternator, replace some brake lines, and brake pump. And the rear frame lifts (time was 3 weeks). A few days after I picked it up, the Alternator went out. I took it back. The alternator vendor said the alternator was bad and replaced it. (3 weeks). That Alternator went out after less than 100 miles. Coachbuilt told me to go away.
I read the manual that came with the RR, page 113 clearly says the Alternator must be 75A at 14V. He said he was putting an alternator in at 13-14V and 30-75 A. Not true, the alternator never put out more than 11 to max 12V even on the freeway. The proper alternator should solve the problem.
