1988 Rolls Royce, Silver Spirit 4-Door Sedanonly 78,000 documented miles
NO ACCIDENTS, CLEAR TITLE, GREAT RUNNING VEHICLE
One of only 813 Rolls Royce Silver Spirits made in 1988
DESCRIPTION:
Currently the car has about 78,000 documented miles.A strong running, previously daily driven vehicle.
No accidents. No engine, transmission or drive train problems. The car has not been driven during the last three years and has not been started in the last twelve months, battery is dead. Just before the last drive it was running very strong. Very clean Leather interior, door panels and carpets. The car was a strong running car, runs very cool and never overheats, even in Florida heat.Exterior Color: Charcoal Grey, Interior: Black Leather with Red Pipping;Transmission 3 speed Automatic; Body 4 doors, 5 seat Sedan; Rear Wheel Drive; Engine:V-8, 8-cylinder 6.8 L (6750 cc); Always used Premium Unleaded Gasoline.Dual Front Electric Power Seats; Power Steering; Factory A/C and Heating with Automatic Climate Control System; AM-FM, Cassette radio; Interior courtesy, vanity and map lights; All Wheel Anti-Lock Disk Brakes; Non-smoker car; Title free and clear.Always well maintained by local mechanic from Greens Garage in Coral Gables, Florida, with all records. Tires were good last time driven, but a new set is needed now. Needs a new battery. I had installed new custom made stainless steel brakes rotors and calipers with lifetime warranty on all calipers (Dual Calipers per wheel), new brakes pads, new power steering, new air conditioning compressor, new belts; always serviced with premium synthetic Mobile 1 Oil. Needs an oil change and all fluids flushed and changed prior to re-start up to avoid engine damage. Also need new air, and fuel filter; coolant radiator flush.
Vehicle has a Carfax title warranty for up to $50,000 coverage, and is Carfax accident free certified. It has been driven less then 30,000 miles in the last Seventeen years. I have spent over $30,000 dollars in regular maintenance and repairs during my ownership; however, due to a death in the family, the car has remained un-driven, parked and unused for the last three (3) years and exposed to the Florida weather, all the while paying for insurance.
The car needs a new paint job, the original clear coat has pealed, and the paint has oxidized, especially on the hood and roof areas. There is basically no corrective body work for the car, only sanding, preparation, and painting. The car also needs new window motors (the old ones get stuck at times or work very slowly), new hands fee cell phone or a blue tooth system, and repair of the right passenger automatic seat belt passive restraint. The photographs show the car as it was when last driven three (3) years ago and in its current state as of August 25, 2017, as noted respectively.
This is the perfect vehicle for a minor restoration project car for someone with the time and inspiration. I have neither.
It would also make a fabulous spare car for anyone owning a like car in prestine condition. The car should be worth over $30,000 for parts, engine, transmission, drive train, A/C parts, interior seats, door panels, doors, hood, trunk, bumpers, fenders, quarter panels, wheels, brake system, etc...., and the massive front, iconic RR Radiator grill and Majestic Flying Lady.

GENERAL VEHICLE DESCRIPTION:
1988 ROLLS ROYCE SILVER SPIRIT
The Silver Spirit is a British saloon automobile made by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, in England. It was launched in 1980.
The Silver Spirit, introduced by Rolls-Royce in 1980, was the first of a new generation of models for the company. It formed the basis for the Flying Spur, Silver Dawn, Touring Limousine, and Park Ward. The same chassis was also used by sister company, Bentley for their new Mulsanne/Eight series. The entire line was replaced with the BMW-powered Silver Seraph and the Bentley Arnage in 1998.
The Silver Spur was a long wheelbase version of the Silver Spirit, produced at the same time. The Spirit was the first car to feature the retractable Spirit of Ecstasy. The spring loaded Mascot sank into the radiator shell if dislodged from its position.
The new car was not entirely new — it shared the basic floor pan of the Silver Shadow as well as that car's 6.75 L (6750 cc/411 in³) V8 engine. The Spur continued with the high degree of ride quality and self-leveling suspension from the Shadow, this time using a Girling automatic hydraulic ride height control system and gas-charged shock absorbers.

Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit / Silver Spur
(1980 - 1989)
Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit, 1988, #JCX23774. For safety reasons the Spirit of Ecstasy mascot wasn't fixed to the top of the radiator but arranged to retract within the radiator shell on impact.
With a new styling particularly appealing to the younger generation of owners more prevalent from the 1960s onward Rolls-Royce unveiled new models in 1980. These were designed to meet the increasingly strict safety, emissions and consumption legislation proliferating internationally. Austrian born Fritz Feller now heading the styling department had been responsible for the elegant coachwork with uncluttered lines and significantly enlarged window areas. Developed on the floor pan of the Silver Shadow the new cars showed a considerably improved ride and road holding not at least due to the new Girling automatic height control in combination with gas shock absorbers. As expected the cars were luxuriously appointed with sumptuous leather seats and deep pile carpets giving the utmost comfort and a veneer covered fascia retaining a traditional appearance. In addition to long wheelbase versions limousines became available with extended passenger compartments. In this New Model to Rolls Royce, the Spirit of Ecstasy mascot wasn't fixed to the top of the radiator but arranged to retract the radiator shell on impact, for safety reasons.
Rolls-Royce Silver Spur, 1988, #SCAZN00A8 JCH23283. Stainless steel wheel trims to a new design distinguished the Rolls-Royce Silver Spur from model year 1986 onward.

ROLLS ROYCE
No brand has been as closely tied to perfection as Rolls-Royce. Rolls-Royce nor has any car become the favorite of the rich and famous for nearly 100 years as has the Rolls Royce Label.Kings and queens own them. Movie stars and rock stars own them. So do dictators and politicians. One thing Rolls-Royce owners have in common is money. Perfection is expensive. The price tag is not surprising considering how or Rolls-Royce is built. Major auto manufacturers assemble a car in a few hours. It takes more than 800 hours to hand build a Rolls-Royce, by the finest craftsmen the world have ever known.
Rolls-Royce's do not go out of date. A Rolls-Royce always speaks prestige and class no matter what its year, it is a rolling piece of art, most are one-of-a-kind.
A Rolls-Royce is built for a lifetime, not for a few short years. Some families, especially in England, buy one car and keep it for 40 or 50 years.
