1986 Porsche 944

944 4 sale.

Garnet red metallic paint, black interior. Car is in good condition with a handful of issues described in detail below. California car originally, I bought it in 2018 and owned it through college. Selling because I don’t have space anymore and the car needs an owner that has time to drive it.

Interior is in good shape, a few tears in seat. reupholstery kits for these cars run about $400 but I never thought the small tears were bad enough to warrant it. The car could use a repaint. Underneath the black plasti-dip the hood apparently matches the rest of the car. Some body panels have been repainted in the past and the paint on those panels is visibly less faded. There’s a dent in the front passenger side fender from a friendly hit-and-run in a parking lot. It’s big, and It’s steel so it’s not popping out. If you paint the car, you’ll probably want to replace that fender. The car is totally rust free, it has a full undercoating. I drove it in New York winters for 4 years and you can’t tell at all.

Runs perfectly, the car has been very well maintained. I replaced the starter in April last year, new brake fluid and coolant in July along with spark plugs, the spark plug wires were replaced in 2019. Timing belt calibrated in August of last year, but not replaced as it was still in good condition. If you’re really looking for something it could use I guess it’s coming due for an oil change around now. Odometer is stopped at 170211 miles. It stopped before I bought the car, actual milage is unknown but I’d estimate around 210,000

Here’s the cars gremlin; the drivers seat is stuck at the highest position, which has not been an issue for any drivers of any height. I’m 6’ tall and I have plenty of headroom, my 5’2” friend drove it comfortably as well. The rest of the seat adjustments work fine. Unless you’re over 6’3” I wouldn’t count on this being an issue. It’s an electrical gremlin I haven’t tracked down. That being said this is the only gremlin right now, every old car has gremlins and unless you’re the jolly green giant I’d say this is an okay one to have.

The only actual issue the car has is the air conditioning. It is in a state of working, but not reaching the cabin, so effectively not working. The AC stoped working in 2021, so finally In august last year I had the entire system replaced and updated to r134a refrigerant. Once it was replaced the compressor worked and the lines got cold, but we discovered the blend is stuck and can’t switch between heat and cold air. The shop that did the AC refused to replace the blend door because they couldn’t guarantee that the dash would remain intact for the job. They recommended a Porsche specialist in Atlanta to do the job. Once the blend door is fixed the AC will work, the entire system is charged with new coolant, all new lines, and a brand new compressor. Until then, you can’t actually use the new AC yet.

Make an offer, I’d rather sell it to a good home than get the biggest buck, and I’m looking to sell quick. Car is located in Atlanta, if you want to see it that can be arranged. No joy-rides, don't expect to drive it unless you're serious.

Condition is as-is/where-is. I’m not a dealership and I’m not Dominos, so I can’t certify anything and I won’t deliver. Buyer is responsible for all shipping, pick-up, etcetera you know the deal.
