1994 Porsche 968
1994 Porsche Red 968 Coupe w/6spd
I am reluctantly downsizing my car collection due to the lack of time to enjoy all of them. One of my favorite drivers has been this 968 Porsche (that functions perfectly for having 153,000 miles) that is well equipped with most all the standard features offered in 1994. I have owned this car for the last 4 years and have used it primarily to frequent shows and gatherings around southern California. This Porsche 968 has been in the warm and dry states located in the southwest corner of the US all its life and it shows. Not only is the body perfectly rust free, all the aluminum components, wiring, suspension components are corrosion free. We don’t get to see too many cars that are this clean in Michigan (including the new cars at the dealerships). You will notice that I am in Michigan, how ever, the Porsche is in Costa Mesa, California.
PLEASE UNDERSTAND THIS as the winner of the auction will have to pick up the Car in Costa Mesa, California.
The car is complete with everything that came with it from the factory. The engine runs fantastically and the transmission shifts smoothly with no issues. All maintenance has been performed within the last 2k miles, including timing belt and idler pulleys, water pump & coolant hose fitting, rotor& cap, plugs & wires, motor mounts, alt belt and coolant reservoir tank. Anything that was needed was completed. The driveline received the same attention as the engine, and nothing was left untouched. The clutch and flywheel were inspected and verified to be in great shape. The throw-out bearing had been replaced and was in excellent shape. We had purchased a new clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder just in case they were needed (they both come along with the car). Transmission fluid was replaced with fresh fluid. The shifter inside the car was rebuilt with all oem bushings and works awesome.
The suspension was the next thing on the list. The front struts had been replaced prior to purchasing the car, front wheel bearings were installed, front lower control arms bushings were installed. All steering components were inspected and passed with flying colors. Front brakes received new Brembo rotors and Raybestos custom pads (this car stops on a dime as it should). The rear suspension has Bilstein sport shocks, new Brembo brake rotors and Raybestos custom pads. All wheels and tires are in excellent condition with tire wear at approximately 50%.
The Interior is in excellent condition (9.0 out of a 10 score) with NO rips, tears or worn fabric or materials anywhere. The carpeting is also in excellent shape throughout the entire interior. Included is a set of the highly desirable matching beaded floor mats for the front floors. Both drivers and passenger seats are full power and in excellent condition. The rear seats in this car have had nothing bigger than a basketball in them their entire life and show no signs of wear. All seats have leather conditioners applied routinely to keep them in perfect shape. Door panels are also in great shape (only the driver’s door upper rest area shows a hint of wear). The dash does have a small crack in it (there is a dash carpet mat that rests on top of the dash to keep the sun from causing any other issues in this area). The center console is in great shape with everything working as it should. All switches control their functions perfectly, even the glove box door is in excellent shape. Rear hatch is in very nice shape, but does have some small issues, the leading edge of the trim is pulling away from the glass slightly (it causes no issues and water intrusion has never been observed). Rear wiper and spoiler are in very nice condition and function perfectly as does the auto release for the rear hatch from inside of the car.
The body of the cars show exceptionally nice! When I had purchased the car the front bumper, lower valance, Pass fender had a few issues (dents and parking block damage) that have been professionally repaired with all new OEM front lower valance, air screen and attachment hardware. All painted items were color matched and reinstalled for a perfect front end. All lights and lenses are bright and clean with perfect shine. After all of the bodywork, paint and polish was complete and the car was getting close to perfect (uh huh, you can guess what happened), I made a mistake! I went to a shopping mall! I knew I had to run in quick and pick up something for my daughter. “It won’t take more than three minutes” I said. Too long. Somehow, even as I parked waaaaaaay back in the corner of the parking lot away from everything. It seems that one of the shopping carts (we’ll call it sprinter) sensed a fresh door in the parking lot. Sprinter was fast and accurate and put a bulls eye on the pass door that wasn’t noticed by me until the little 968 was safe back at home. After my meltdown I was assured that nobody would ever see it and just a dab of touch up paint would fix the chip. I still see it in my sleep! If it doesn’t sell the door will be refinished to perfection. Please understand that this car is 30 years old and everything to keep this beautiful red 968 has been done as best as we could along it's journey of life. However, it has its little things here and there that it does and shows that make up its own personality. There could be little things that I have not covered (VERY FEW) or forgot about. I do firmly believe that the first person that looks at this little gem will take it though. I am not asking new car price for this 968 simply because it does have some miles on it (5100 per year). I would tell anyone looking at a used classic to educate themselves on the vehicle they are interested in before going and wasting anyone'stime as a courtesy. It will be appreciated by all.
Now for the legal crap! It's a used car! I am not a dealer! I did not make it! I do not warrantee them for anything or do I imply that it will be warrantedfor anything. I don't need or want help selling this car and I will not pay a commissionto anyone that feels they are owed for a commissionor spiff for doing so. Being that I am selling my cars on Ebay i will give the buyer AKA purchaser 1 week to arrange pickup of the car. Yes, it must be picked up in a timely fashion. I don't have much spare time in my life as it is. If you have any questions about thecar please feel free to contact me.
