Only 423 M491 optioned cars were produced world wide in 1984, and are now becoming extremely collectible. Option M491 was a Turbo Look package that consisted of front and rear fenders, rear fender flares, and front and rear spoilers identical to the Turbo. Also included in the Turbo Look were the front hubs, rear torsion bar tube, suspension arms, and brake system of the Turbo. Wheels measured 7x16 at the front and 8x16 at the rear. This particular example comes in the classic Guards Red color, and the condition of the paint is quite outstanding! In direct sunlight, the Guards Red appears to be very vibrant, full-bodied and shiny. Only few blemishes and overall 9.5 of of 10! The interior of this Porsche is in an extremely nice shape as well, and is highlighted with popular factory Sport seats. Everything is fully functional, including the sliding sunroof and AC that blows cold air. The interior has ben upgraded with a more modern Sony radio unit, which can be easily replaced with the stock Blaupunkt that are available online for a very friendly price. The car is powered by its original 3.2 liter flat six engine, which produces 228 horsepower and 209 ft lbs of torque. The power is all there and the car’s performance is spot on! The car sports a brand new clutch, which greatly adds to this car’s shifting fluidity and top mechanical standing. A recent service completed prior to the car coming to our shop in GA consisted of new CV boot, gasket, half shaft replacement and installation of new Michelin Pilot Sport tires. Most noticeable service just completed under our care consisted of R&R engine & transmission, new clutch, rear crankshaft seal, and new oil lines. This Porsche was delivered new to Tuckahoo, NY, and shortly after was purchased by a gent from Greenwich, CT, where it remained until late 90’s. The next owner brought the car over to Michigan, where it remained for over 20 years. It is now safely stored on our showroom floor in Oakwood, GA, waiting for a new owner.
