BECAUSE LIFE IS TOO SHORT TO DRIVE A BORING CAR!! The Classic Car Gallery 2316 Fairfield Ave. Bridgeport, CT 06605 203-446-3477 1981 Porsche 924 Turbo. “ 86,000 0riginal mile, Recent belt and water pump service, New tires, good running and driving car” VIN WP0AA0933BN151287 The Porsche 924 Turbo came from a time when the word “turbo”, on the back of a Porsche, meant something more technical than just “it goes a bit faster than the base model; this, 1981-built, 924 Turbo is a product of those times. a turbocharged 2.0-liter inline-four coupled to a 5-speed manual transaxle, the car offers excellent handling, good performance and a sublime driving experience at an economical price. Externally, the Turbo, can be distinguished from the standard 924 by the four intakes between its hide-away headlamps and the NACA duct offset to one side of the bonnet - as well as the more obvious “turbo” badge on the rear. Only 1,529 924 Turbos are believed to have been built from 1979-81 making this a rare version of the 924. The car on offer here is a 1981 Porsche 924 Turbo. It is an unmolested, honest example, of the later “Series 2” Turbo. Upgraded by Porsche over the series 1 cars, it featured a reengineered engine, improved fuel injection and increased power output. Like all turbo models this 924 has a 5-speed manual gearbox and disc brakes all round. The car is finished in Platinum Metallic/U1 with a removable sunroof. The paint shows some chips and dings as well as some discoloration, as would be expected of a 39 year old car. Its original Porsche ATS wheels are present and shod with new Michelin tires, show well with some paint loss and discoloration. The interior is finished in beige leatherette/LV with brown trim and a plastic dash cover. Flaws include dash cracks, split seams and seat wear. The carpet, especially in the rear trunk area is sun worn and would need replacement. The factory radio was replaced, in period, by a Pioneer cassette stereo. With 86,000 original miles, the car has recently had a Belt and waterpump service, all belts replaced and front tie rods replaced and is up to date on service. the runs well and with a little TLC, can easily be brought to the next level. The car comes with its Porsche Certificate of Authenticity and original owners manual. A clean Carfax report, past service receipts, and a clean Massachusetts title.
