This is a restored '62 356B T6 Cabrio with the Super 90 engine. It has been restored with over $300K invested. This was a solid west coast car, originally delivered as a hardtop, the convertible added later. This car does come with the original hardtop. It is a matching numbers car but the colors were flipped from red over black to black over red. The CoA shows 10/31/1961 production date; Ruby Red over Black leatherette; eng # 804318; trans # 51396; options: Antenna; 1 Headrest Left -Second Seat; Prepared for Headrest; Ventilated Chrome Wheels; Floormats, Coco; 2 Loudspeakers; Michelin Tires (165/15).
The owner who did the resto purchased it in 2010 from a family in Nevada were the car was sitting for over 15 years. The restoration was done to show level and the attention and detail is apparent in every angle and view of this car. A summary of the work and the craftsman involved: Body and paint prep by Dave DeMaria of Car Works in CO; Tom Scott, concours winning painter and 356 expert handled the paint and final assembly; Victor Miles was in charge of all chrome resto; interior was done by Auto International; Roger Shapiro did the engine rebuild which included the original S90 case, a 912 crank, Prauter connecting rods, Shasta pistons and cylinders, NuTek cams and cam followers. All sheetmetal was powdercoated and hardware zinc plated. We have a massive binder detailing all the work and invoices for parts, a thumb drive with 340 pictures of the resto and an original 1962 brochure.
