Outlaw Canyon Carver: 1983 Porsche 911 RS
3.0 Tribute Please wait a few moments while our high-resolution photos load.

When it comes to Porsche blue chip models, the Carrera RS ranks near the top. Unfortunately, very few of us have the cash for a, let's say, 1974 Ducktail Carrera RS. Help comes in form of this tribute car, based on a 1983 Super Carrera.

A boatload of benjamins has been invested to turn a stock 911 Coupe into a road rocket that will feel equally at home on the track. If you are one of those types that rather keeps their Porsche tucked away safely in the garage and frequently employs the use of a car duster, this car might not be for you, but if you are into pure, adrenalin-pumping performance, this car has your name written all over it!

Featuring almost too many cosmetic and mechanical enhancements to list, we strove to show the extent of the work that has been performed in these pictures and to convey the sheer pleasure of driving this road rocket in the videos below.

Manufactured in Zuffenhausen during the month of January, 1983, VIN *WP0AA0914DS121458* was built to U.S. specification and delivered new in Orange County, Calif.
Let's have a closer look.

Neat and clean trunk shows off strut brace with camber adjusters, battery relocated to smuggler's box (A/C has been removed), and kill switch.

Undercarriage is entirely devoid of corrosion or accident damage. We did not detect any annoying drivetrain leaks, either. Note front mounted oil cooler, sport shocks and sport exhaust with headers.

Beautiful original floors.

Lowered slightly to euro specs, the Outlaw displays a perfect stance! Apart from a small spot below the windshield, the arrow-straight coachwork is free of dents, scratches or rust bubbles.

The iconic 7 & 8 in. FUCHS forged light alloy rims have been nicely refinished.

Re-painted once, in Guards Red, the driver-level finish displays well. Trim pieces and weatherstripping are in excellent condition.

Inside, the classic Porsche cockpit looks largely stock, save for the leather-clad MOMO steering wheel and the RS door panels. Note radio block-off plate.

All gauges work as intended, even the clock. Power windows, power mirrors and power sunroof are all in fine fettle.

This 911 comes with a wonderful set of CORBEAU sport seats.

A brand new carpet kit was installed just recently, featuring the rear seat delete option, however OG parts are included. A set of black floor mats with a red PORSCHE script is also included.

911 RS rear end, looking sexy. Note the slim European bumper guards. German license plate is for display only; the car comes with a clear California Certificate of Title.

Below the lightweight ducktail lives the numbers matching 3.0-liter boxer motor # *64D2800*. Mechanical work that has been carried out includes a re-ring and complete top end job with valves and guides @104k miles, installation of oil-fed Carrera chain tensioners, major service incl. new clutch and pressure plate @ 111k miles, new brake pads and rotors, new front and rear shifter bushings, and a new oil thermostat. Various receipts for work performed are included. The engine oil was changed every 3 - 4k miles.

Note performance headers and catalytic converter. Yes, this road rocket just passed the stringent California smog check!

Monday, February 11, was a nice and sunny winter day here in Ventura and we couldn't wait to embark on our test drive.

With its deep front spoiler, dual air ducts, Donauwellen side script and gleaming FUCHS wheels, this bright red 911 looks fast even at a stop sign. Car starts, runs, idles, drives, handles and stops exactly as you would expect from a well-kept 911. Various upgrades to suspension, brakes and shifter have been employed to great effect. Add some safety gear and you'll have yourself a nice track car, or do what we did and enjoy romping on some quiet backcountry roads.

Driving this tribute to Porsche's RS Carreras is pure joy. The sound and the fury of a classic rear engined sports car converge in a most fortuitous manner.

Returning home, we are in lust with this 911. You can't beat the ratio of "smiles per mile to money spent."

Please, refer to the videos below for additional exciting aspects of this well-sorted Outlaw.
