1976 Porsche 911 RSR ST Recreation

1976 Porsche 911 RSR/ST Recreation. Vin 678-276-7045. 52,101 Miles. 5-Speed Manual. Signal Orange. Black with Orange Houndstooth Interior. This absolutely stunning and beastly looking Porsche is a steel bodied 911 RSR/ST Backdated recreation. The paintwork looks great and emanates all around. The interior is in a fantastic shape as well, and the Orange Houndstooth seat inserts along with the Orange dotted Coco mats add volume and richness. The glaring and freshly refinished Fuch wheels are in superb condition, and are fitted with proper looking Toyo R888 tires. The... car started its life as a 1976 911S, spending most of its life in the dry climate of Southern California. The chassis is extremely dry and straight, with no signs of abuse. Earlier in its life, the original motor was replaced with a low-mile, 3.2L engine from a 1985 911 Carrera, which was resealed and tuned in early 2017. The clutch was replaced as well along with a full gearbox rebuild. The recreation process started in 2013, and here are the highlights of the build: New steel turbo flares (9" and 11”) massaged to RSR-style and properly butt-welded. Correct early steel hood. Original steel front fenders modified with '68 front turn signals. Steel molded/frenched turn signals (front and rear) with brake ducts and 911 R-style taillights. All metal body panels except fiberglass front and rear S bumpers. Steel decklid with custom louvers. BNB exhaust system with heat exchangers. Custom 2-in/2-out muffler. H4 headlights with HID bulbs. WEVO shifter. Refinished 16x8 Fuchs. Alcantera interior finishes (dash, visors, and door tops). Momo suede steering wheel. Fresh upgraded brake rotors and pads. All new rubber body seals. Custom houndstooth factory sport seats. Rebuilt A/C system with clock delete vent. Detailed engine bay. Carrera front right fender oil cooler with custom bumper vent. Fresh lightweight carpet and RS America door panels. In 2017, the owner decided to have the drivetrain freshened, which consisted of: Remove engine and transmission. Reseal engine. Major service. New valve cover gaskets, fuel filter, air filter, and distributor cap. New oil return tubes w/aluminum upgrade style. Replace all rocker arm shafts. Adjust valves/New spark plugs. New heater and oil hoses. New clutch. Lightweight sport flywheel. Full transmission rebuild by German Transaxle of Bend, OR. Repack C/V joints. Repack front wheel bearings. At that time, there was a compression and leakdown test performed, yielding very good numbers: Cyl 1 160/3% Cyl 2 167/1% Cyl 3 162/2% Cyl 4 160/2% Cyl 5 162/3% Cyl 6 160/4% From a driving perspective, this is an easy and comfortable early air-cooled 911 to drive and ride in. Thanks to the Motronic fuel injection system, it starts with ease and idles evenly. The power feels strong in this light chassis. Unlike builds from later SC's and Carreras, the '76 911s still only weighed about 2,400 lbs. Plus, with the removal of much of the weight, this example feels very much like an early longhood 911 with the benefit of a stiffer chassis and better suspension components and geometry. The handling is crisp with nice driving characteristics. The brakes have ample stopping power and the shifting is fantastic. The gearbox is super solid, and the sport clutch combined with the light flywheel really help transfer power to the pavement quickly and with confidence. Overall, this 911 RSR/ST Recreation is simply a great car that looks and performs quite superbly! It has the exhilarating "it" factor, and will never go unnoticed on the road. It is also built for comfort, and the AC along with the comfortable seats make the ride very enjoyable. This car is ready to be enjoyed! Collector car financing available at competitive rates.
