16" Fuch wheels in 16 x7 and 16 x 8

Electric sunroof. The original MSRP was 42,839.00 in 1986.
I bought the car almost 4 years ago from a PCA member in the south after an exhaustive search. The car had 69,xxx on it and after a PPI, the car was shipped to me in Southern California. A couple of things were missed in the PPI which I will elaborate on later but for the most part the car was honest and well taken care of during during its life. I paid 41,500, I have a copy of the original cashiers check.
Once I took possession of the car it was dropped off at Sleepers Speed Shop in Costa Mesa California, we came up with a plan to make it mechanically perfect Another PPI was completed, compression was excellent across the board and verified what the original PPI stated. Everything was under 4%. All the electronics worked, no rust or underneath issues.
There were some oil leaks, I knew about them, the clutch was in need of replacement and I wanted everything inspected. I will say that this effort took about 4 months and was just under 22,000 dollars initially . I did not plan to spend that much but the proverbial while you are in there always seems to win. The 915 gearbox complete rebuild was not anticipated but necessary. 35,000 dollars and counting invested so far.....
Engine-
The engine was removed, the car was wheeled down the street for a dry ice cleaning of the under-carriage, wheel wells etc. that removed 30 years of everything that builds up on a car. Once that was accomplished things were sent to powder coaters, new parts ordered. The 915 was removed to be inspected and eventually that was completely rebuilt...twice as I hated the WEVO gate that was installed so they did it again. All synchro's were replaced even those they said were fine, I try and do things once ( well twice in this case) everything was replaced, documented and old parts shown to me. The 1stand 2ndgear had wear but everything else was fine but replaced anyway. A new clutch and pressure plate, every seal and sensor replaced...every single one of them! In the binder that holds all these receipts you will see long lists of things I opted to replace even if the old one was fine. As you can see from the engine it is spotless. A new engine pad was installed after I spent 3 days in there cleaning and waxing the engine bay by hand. New starter, alternator and Interstate Battery were installed. Everything was inspected, tuned and cleaned. A Steve Wong chip was added ( I have the OEM one) the engine was sealed and checked again. The old catalytic converter was replaced with a new one and a Billy Boat catback system installed with the SW chip accounting for that change. A black tip replaced the chrome one as I did not want chrome on the car. The car to this day since that work was performed is bone dry, starts like an explosion at first turn of the key and is flawless.
The brakes were checked, new steel lines and pads installed, I painted the calipers and added the logos. New shocks were installed, the car was lowered to Euro height and corner balanced and tracks perfectly. Hands off the wheel and at any speed is straight and true. The front and rear fenders were rolled slightly to accommodate the bigger Fuchs added.
Yearly service has been done since then consisting of full inspections and oil changes regardless of miles which average about 900 per year. This year a valve adjustment was done with the oil change and it was noticed a leaking CV on the front left. I opted to replace all 4 at the same time. The car was fully inspected at the same time 6-18-2018 and as expected a glowing report on the 911.
Lighting
Then we started on the electronics. I upgraded to H4 Euro assemblies and added LED to them and it made a world of difference. That was 750 dollars. Then from a seller on Pelican I ordered the LED boards that fit perfectly in place, they are not LED bulbs but entire boards that offer much better light than anything on the market which make the 911 a much safer place. I did front and back for 600 dollars, they light the correct colors but are clear when unused. New driving light covers were ordered and installed.
AC & Sunroof
The sunroof was serviced and lubricated, works perfectly. As works as it did in 1986. Meaning on a cold day it works really well and on a hot day it works as it did in 1986...not the Germans strength unfortunately. I have not converted the AC. I rarely used it as if it was going to be super warm I have other cars to drive. Plus the motors are loud.
Paint & Body
The paint. This is probably my greatest joy and disappointment. I am a perfectionist. People say that but I have sold two Porsches here, look me up and look at my cars. My 951 was easily one of the best ever offered here and my Spyder sold in 30 minutes. I take my cars to the highest level they can reach. The original PPI failed to disclose on each door about a dimes worth of burn through. Someone back in the day went to far with a orbital. It angers me to no end and when I discuss it with anyone including my paint shop they urge me to calm down, for 30 year old original paint, no other paint work or I would have had the doors done it looks AMAZING. Easily a 8.8. I have carefully made that paint look as good as it can look. People say the car "pops" it does but disclosure is on each door there are dine size burn through. One stage paint is interesting in that way. The rubber on the whale tail is soft and very black as is all the other black parts and seals/trim. On the left side rear bumperette there is a slice/crack that is 1.5 inches long. I debated what to do including replacement but again was talked out by those around me.
A new windshield was installed.
New rock Guards on each flared fender installed
Interior
Now we get to the interior. It was fine but not good enough.
The seats were traded in for new leather 12 way power seats from a newer 911 on both sides. The leather is brand new, still smells brand new as they are.
A new OEM carpet kit was purchased and installed
A new Porsche 959 Exclusive steering wheel with matching red stitching installed ( I have the original)
All of the gauges had new OEM bulbs installed.
A leather period 911 arm rest was purchased and installed. A new leather boot and rennline handbrake installed.
Every single button and switch either got a new OEM button or a Rennline metal on in black installed. So everything that had 30 years of touches and use was replaced either with new OEM or something better.
New seatbelts were purchased as 30 year old ones don't cut it. Since I had to get new ones I got them in Guards Red.
To protect the new carpet I have 3 sets of mats, Lyodd ones, Cocco Mats and OEM ones. They all come with it.
There is a carpet mat on the rear seats that say Carrera.
The frunk is perfect and has a rennline 3 way strut bar.
The hood badge is brand new as is the rear badge.
A Rennline quick release Fire Extinguisher and mount installed.
Infotainment
The stereo- I got the first Porsche Sport Classic radio sold in the US, I wanted it and prepaid for it so I would get it first. I wrote the first review on Pelican. I like it for many reasons. It is Porsche for starters, designed for this car.Yes the Navigation is small but it works but more importantly it looks like it belongs and brings Bluetooth and iPhone connectivity. More importantly, it has satellite radio and for the buyer of this car they will never have to pay for XM as long as they have this car as my lifetime subscription module goes with it. It is a full subscription so 240 dollars a year of radio forever. Yes if you remove the radio and module it will play in your 993 or 928. I have a BEQ-65 on the floor. It is brand new, I will miss it. There are four period- correct and awesome Boston Acoustic speakers in the car and a Blaupunkt subwoofer behind the seat ( it can easily be removed)
There is a top of the line Viper alarm
The windows are tinted in lifetime 3M tint ( ultra clear as I did not want that look on this)
A new shift knob and boot ( you get 3 as I change them around)
I have the entire Rennline catalog in the car from door pins, pedals to knobs.
There is a Porsche trickle charger, Porsche OEM outdoor cover ( made for whaletail)
I am sure I am missing a thousand things but over the years my goal was to make this the nicest, coolest 911 around. It got the stares and compliments I loved driving it.
Why am I selling it? My GT3 is on a boat and I just impulse bought a RS3....I have zero room and I don't park cars outside. ( Yes I had an outdoor cover on a inside car!)
The pricing is somewhat negotiable but I won't ride this down far. Excellence Magazine just said an excellent version of a 86 is worth 60k. This is a tick above excellent. You can truly drive this anywhere and back again. Everything works and works really well. If it even looked funny it was replaced. This car will need nothing but regular oil changes for years to come.
Finally, there are two sets of Fuchs. The originals are in plastic bags with tires stored in the garage. The ones on it are the best reps I could buy with factory centers and brand new RE-11's They are 16x8 and 16 x 9 and on the car now. Both sets come with car. I have all the parts ( original, even the seatbelts) that I replaced.
The car has passed SMOG in California every 2 years with flying colors. I have the title. The car has been in no accidents.
The first PCA Concours I ever entered I won with this, in a very crowded class. This 911 is investment grade.
Ask any questions.
Thank you for reading war and peace but if you are thinking of paying this much for a air-cooled Porsche it is best to understand why.I bought the best one I could find and still needed to invest a small fortunate to make it leak free, totally dependable, livable and frankly cool-looking. This car is ready to be enjoyed, win Concours and drive down your favorite roads. The saying there are no cheap Porsches is absolutely true. You can perhaps buy one for 40k, perhaps. But you will easily surpass the price of this one and not replicate the results. There are some video's out there about buying the cheapest air cooled Porsche in the US for 40k, a year older, more miles and the immediate infusion of cash. Forbes magazine just said buying a air-cooled Porsche is better than the stock market!
Please note. I have provided pictures of both sets of Fuchs on the 911 ( both sets included in price) Also I had the engine adjusted and fully inspected and I wanted the fan powder coated a different color ( stone white) and the Rennline trim piece installed. Also There were/are only 3 owners of the car, the person I bought it from had in his wifes name and then his twice for some reason involving the trust but I know for a fact there has only been 3 owners as I have records since new.
ADD- Car has full Suntek CLEAR tint all the away around with 10 year warranty. Also included with the OEM car cover is Porsche battery tender as already hardwired to battery.
Thank you all for the wonderful initial response, here are the answers so everyone can see them. See the factory alarm was carefully removed. In its place is a top of the line Viper system with two remotes, there are 3 sets of keys each with functioning flashlights. The Stereo does have dual USB inputs ( in glove box) and SD Card input. It plays FLAC files. All belts were changed as well as spark plugs, coil and wire. I just chose OEM black on the upgraded wire as opposed to bling red...but was tempted! Yes, it was noted I had LED lights installed in the cabin that changes color when opening the door and when driving. Fully remote controlled and can be switched off. these older cars had poor internal lighting. The factory leather shift boot and knob are included. Finally, yes I have the factory steering wheel...while the 959 wheel is 1000 times better the original wheel goes with the car! I have all the original parts of things I changed that were worth saving.
