Description:

1970 Porsche 914 appearance Group

First year of the 914-brain child of Ferry Porsche, "I want to design a car that young people can afford" thus Porsche and VW joined forces, VW the replacement for the Karmann Ghia and Porsche its 912. This particular 914 was born 1/12/1970 early production number 2,382 built out of 13,312 for the 1970 model year. This Car was purchased on Saint Patrick's Day 1970 when John Brown Jr was 24yrs of age, just out of the army and owned it till 2006.

This very original 914 minus its driver quality repaint, shines nice from 10ft scratches some cracks Etc. but it deserves better. This 914 has only had one Titled owner John Wilson Brown Jr. of Charlotte N.C. to the best of my knowledge (See title pics). I purchased this 914 on 2-23-13 from a Ken Dixon out of an old shed in Eatonton, GA, where it had been sitting for years based on the dust and cobwebs. Mr. Dixon told me he bought it years prior and had just set here since.

The car now has 63,827 miles on it and the last receipt I have from Mr. Brown was an engine rebuild and state inspection showing 55,296 miles. I believe based on just some of the originality that this is the correct mileage, and the last two people to have the car Mr. Brown and I never drove or titled it.

This 914 is a perfect candidate for a full restoration, minimal rust, being a southern car its entire life (Especially for a 914) and you just don't find a lot of 914's with this amount of original paperwork. The paper work alone will add a lot of value I believe, especially once restored. Perfect for a 914/6 Build.

*The Good:

Car Runs and Drives.

Matching Numbers.Original fuel injection.

One year only special paint Metallic Green (still showing in the door jams Etc.)

Appearance Group option.

Original (Ladies) passenger Foot Rest (picture in trunk)

All Gauges work. Almost perfect Dash.

Great original leather bound steering wheel.

Perfect Speaker grills.

Targa top great shape, even has the original felt liner.

Lights all work. New Muffler.

Original radio

Original carpet

5 Date Matched Appearance group rims.

* The Not So Good:

Needs Break work from sitting. Engine leaks "Porsche" oil.

Rust-mostly surface. The Worst being the battery tray area like all 914

Needs new Targa Gaskets. Small tear in driver's seat.

Rear bumper chrome not perfect.

Ignition needs to be tightened or replaced. cylinder just pulls out with key. (this just happened) it does still crank.

This Car will be sold with a bill of sell only, as to keep the value of the original title.
