Up for sale is a 1979 Porsche 911 Targa SC, with very interesting features. This car started out as a Grand Prix White, European model Targa 911. It was eventually imported into the USA, probably in the 1980s, and at some point a respray was done in Guards Red. It does have an oem whale tale on the trunk lid, but it is not a turbo car; a common upgrade on these in the '80s. What is interesting about this model is that it has a genuine Porsche rear zip-out soft window. We do not know if the car was manufactured that way from the factory: if so, it is certainly very rare. If not, then it was back-dated by a prior owner, however the soft window was correctly done and contains all the genuine Porsche soft window parts.
This is a driver quality car, and is a lot of fun to drive on a fair day with the targa top stowed and the rear window zipped out. Interior is fair; could use a new carpet kit. Paint is a ten foot, driver quality paint job, with some rock chips and blemishes consistent with a daily driver of this age. Could use a repaint to show but as current is very respectable driver quality paint job. Smugglers box is rust free (this is a common rust point on these cars), and the underbody is solid. Rare factory tire inflator kit is included with the sale, however there is no spare wheel included.
The engine runs well. We recently completed a tune-up with a fresh oil change, new distributor rotor, cap, and plugs. The airbox has had the factory pop off valve upgrade installed. In addition, the factory hydraulic timing chain tensioner upgrade is present. Transmission shifts well under normal operation, except that when power shifting into second gear at rapid acceleration there is some grinding. The transmission would benefit from the installation of new first and second gear dog and slider assemblies in the future.

I have tried to describe and photograph the car in as much detail possible, however of course with any used vehicle, this car is sold "as is" with no warranties or guarantees made of any kind.
