When the 924 version first came out in 1977, it went away from air-cooled engines and became water-cooled. Originally Designed by Volkswagen, it was sent off to Porsche to be sold as the 924. Front Engine and Rear Wheel Drive with a pretty even weight distribution at 48/52 let this car roll nicely down the road. In 1983 and beyond, the engine was updated with more power and the driveshaft was balanced with the Mitsubishi-Licensed Driveshaft replacing the old system Porsche created.
