1966 Porsche 912

1966 Porsche 912 - Drives Well - Mechanically Sound - Needs Cosmetic Restoration Texas "Rebuilt Title" This car is registered in Texas. it has passed the state safety inspection. and is road legal right now. as is. This 912 was recently looked over by one of Houston's best classic Porsche shops and its running gear was given a clean bill of health. The engine is a 4 cylinder VW unit. similar to the original. but not original to the car. True Mileage is Unknown. The car starts. steers. shifts. brakes. and drives as it should with no issues to speak of. Its electrics are in working order. although I have never put a radio in it and can not say whether the stereo system is working. In the time that I have owned it. I have replaced the gas tank and front tie rods at the Porsche mechanic's suggestion. Other than those two items. the Porsche mechanics have had no other suggestions for work on the running gear. In their own words the car is "running like a top. " That being said. this 912 is in need of cosmetic attention. Previous title was a California "Salvage Title". The car was involved in a rear end collision sometime before I bought it and the cosmetic damage from that collision has never been repaired. The engine lid closes. but the latch does not release without pulling on the engine lid with considerable effort. Please see photos for detail. I have removed and thrown away the front fog lamps that are pictured on the car (they were added by the previous owner and were not working. )The silver paint looks OK from a distance. but upon closer inspection it is in need of restoration. The paint is bubbling and showing rust on the front passenger side fender. It is also cracked and chipped in other areas. mostly around the damaged section of the rear. but I would suggest looking to the photos for detail. There are three areas of rust worth mentioning:1. On top of the front passenger side fender. 2. Under the front of the car (near the gas tank) 3. In the damaged section of the rear. That being said. there is very little. if any. rust other than those three areas. The floor boards are in good shape. Please see photos for detail. The car is being sold AS IS. with no warranties. express or implied. I would suggest an in person inspection if possible. if not. I am happy to have the car inspected by a third party at bidders expense. High bidder is responsible for all shipping. tax. and others fees that they may incur. Although the car needs some T. L. C. . I think it would make a great driving project car for anyone who is looking to get into a S. W. B. Porsche at a fair price. Any questions. feel free to ask. I am here to help in any way that I can.
