This nice example of a 1968 911 spent almost it’s entire life in Eastern Oregon, part of the state known for its dry climate. When we acquired the car it had been in storage for a few years and had the usual list of minor needs you would expect. The motor was pulled and re-sealed, he valves adjusted and we went through the original Weber carburetors. While we addressed the mechanicals we also took care of cosmetics in the engine compartment. The engine tin was powder coated and a good part of the engine hardware was re-zinc plated.

The motor runs great and does not smoke and is free of any major leaks. The transmission shifts very smoothly, he syncros are good including 2nd gear, common issue on these 901 gearbox’s.The brakes were also gone through as the calipers were sticking.

The body on the car was the next item to be addressed. It was a very solid car except for the battery tray area. We had a complete front pan installed by a body shop who is very proficient in vintage Porsche repair. We sourced all the parts from Stoddard and it was installed using the factory Porsche jig for perfect fitment. The rest of the chassis is very dry with no damage to the floor or rear torsion tube. When you look at the pictures, he underside is all-original, ow we got the 911.

Once that the chassis was solid, t was on to the suspension, here we replaced many rubber bushings and installed new Koni shocks and struts.

The exterior of the car we would rate at 7 out of 10. It is not the original color and has some flaws, ut it looks good, nd is presentable for years, r until you were to repaint the car, opefully back to the original Tangerine.

This car is an excellent car to drive or great for an easy restoration if you wanted it to be perfect. The car has excellent bright work and glass, ome of the best we’ve seen on a non-restored car.

These 901 SWB cars are a joy to drive, ightweight, imble and smooth. Early, hort wheelbase 911’s are rare and have proven to be a great investment as well as fun to drive.
