1989 Porsche 911 964 Carrera 4

I'm selling my 964... Never thought I would say that but I am. I've owned the car for 3 years and have enjoyed every single moment. I'm liquidating nearly everything to fund an enormous decision, and my beloved car is part of that effort. I'm also selling a1965 VW Bus Camper listed shortly, myboat, my motorcycle, and some property. It's all gotta go. This car, is the hardest one of them all.

For those that may not know, 1989 was the very first year Porscheintroducedthe 964. The first year that Porsche offered the Carrera 4drive train. And the only year for a unique list of options that make thisparticularmodel one of the rarer 964's you can acquire.

The 964 was considered to be 85% new as compared to its predecessor, the Carrera 3.2.Although over 85% of the components had been redesigned, the body style remains faithful to the classic lines of the 911.The first and only 964s available in 1989,were all wheel drivemodels; Porsche added the rear wheel driveCarrera 2 variant to the range later in 1990. This introductory year greatly limited the production number of 964 models built in 1989, as in 89 they also continued the sale of the 3.2 cars. The 4 wheel drive Carrera 4 used largely the same system developed in the legendary 959. Thanks to the new system acceleration was more vivid than ever before with 100mph coming up in under 13 seconds from rest.

As part of this re-design, improved aerodynamics using knowledge gained from Le Mans winning 959 and 962, reduced the drag coefficient to 0.32, and with virtually zero lift greatly improved stability and road holding at high speed. A retractable rear spoiler automatically extends at 50mph and whilst increasing the downforce also doubles the volume of air intake for improved engine cooling. Coming to slower speeds, and the spoiler tucks nicely back into the deck lidand the perfect lines of the 911 are restored :) In my opinion its so much more classy looking than your racer boy big wings of the impact bumper cars we see everywhere. (Unless you got the hips to support it ;)

The capacity of the famous flat six engine increased to 3.6 Litres. Gained twin spark ignition and become the most powerful normally aspirated 911 production engine with 250 bhp and230 foot lbs of torqueat 4,800 rpm, 0-60 coming up in just over 5 seconds and a top speed of 165 mph. I have yet had the road or audacity to hit that number, (though be it close :) but its very easy to see how quickly you could get there! Nothing has been more satisfying than the sound, combined with the force felt when you lay the pedal down over 4,500 RPMs and rocket through the tach to the next gear. Its intoxicating. When I first owned this car for about 6 months, I had landed a really good opportunity to buy a 97 993. You can see my feedback from that sale. I had bought the 993 with the idea that it might replace this 964, being the 'better car' in a lot of peoples opinion. After owning both of them for a couple months, it was absolutely no contest which car was right for me. The visceral road feel, exhaust notes, and aggressive nature of the 964 was more of an experience HANDS DOWN and thus I instead sold the 993 and kept this 964 and never looked back.

The car still sports its timeless original interior. I have the aesthetically correct MOMO steering wheel in it but also have the original blue leather wrapped steering wheel in excellent condition safely stored to be replaced into the car. The midnight blue leather is soft, incredibly well preserved (frequently use organic leather milk, NEVER seen Armour-all) and is such a luxury color. People that see the car at night are surprised to see it again during the day because of how deep the blue is and how the sunlight brings it out so nicely. All power windows, seats, heat, ac, radio, etc etc work as they should with the exception of the sun roof is occasionally sticky on closing. Maybe 30% of the time when coming to a complete close it will skip track and needs to be guided shut. This just started this fall and I have not gotten to it. Again, it's not always problematic and can be closed by hand, its just a 'if left might get worse' type of thing. The headliner is 100% original, and flawless in the same blue tone as the rest. Back seat pads and parcel trey area are showroom condition. Sound system works perfectly, and aftermarket deck is iPhone enabled etc. Only 'aftermarket' item I don't have the original for. Exterior is all original paint, grand prix white, thick throughout, and looks excellent up close. Very few road chips that take a seriously up close look to point out, where one might expect them. ZERO rust, anywhere. Your typical windshield rust, rain gutter cracking, hood corner issues? ZERO of these have ever effected this car. If this doesn't seem uncommon, take a closer look at any other 'affordable' 964 out there. Reflector bar on the back has two hairline cracks like they all do.. and have been that way since I've owned it. In other words they are not getting worse, and for the $500 they charge for the replacement I'd say it looks A-OK as is. Again, nearly have to point it out to see it. No accidents in its history whatsoever. No evidence of ever seeing a track. Only a handful of owners (5 by my calculation including me and I know two of them were the same person at different times. So 4 owners max) A very well documented maintenance history 'binder' with inches of recites. Boxes of parts and pieces accumulated over the years that add up to well over $1,000 in spares (things like window switches, filters, gaskets/seals, relays, sensors etc..) Have original tool roll, owners manual, purchase and sales booklet, spare tire, spare tire mounted compressor kit, tow hook, sunroof crank... Everything this car was supposed to be offered with from Porsche as far as I can tell.

I've spent over $15,000 on documented maintenance and tasteful upgrades to this car in the last 3 years. All work was done by a reputable Porsche only shop, with the best in class parts. Only real items 'not Porsche' were the Bilstein, Eibach, Elephant Racing suspension components dialed in perfectly for over the road use. US Spec 964's came with an SUV like stance, whereas this car sits nice and tight closer to RS spec without being too aggressive for daily use in New England environments. The 4 wheel drive system is gratefully forgiving when you push it, and there is no harm in asking for forgiveness in the windy roads from time to time :) With the way she's set up now its like nothing else I've ever driven. Writing this ad pains me that I'm selling it. If my plans go well, it will be the first thing I replace. Newly replaced clutch, flywheel, brand new tires DWS. Transmission and engine out service, seals replaced where recommended, fluids flushed, checked, replaced with best quality Red-Line, everything else cleaned up checked lubed and tightened. Most recent bill was over $5,000 in labor alone just over a month ago. Shift linkage/coupler, fan shroud, battery, ground strap, alternator, the list goes on. Aftermarket rims are custom made for this 964 C4 by Fikse wheels and are incredibly light and well balanced. Original wheels in showroom condition, wrapped, stored, and can be included.Everything that was done to this car was done so carefully as to allow myself or the next owner to get it back to stock as easily as possible. No Bad Days chip purchased however not installed. Can include if interested. Most of the other 'mods' that support a chip were done already. (power tube, open air-box KN, etc). The car sounds amazing from the cabin as well as driving by without being too loud. Nothing like the sound of the flat 6... No squeaks, bangs, or rattles whatsoever and I'm driving some rather unfriendly New England roads. This car sounds more solid than my 2015 Grand Cherokee even with the stiffer springs. German engineering I guess. Engine starts with an incredibly healthy note, idle stays balanced, no smoke no hesitation, no concerns. Shifts like new, and largely is in that department as mentioned. Brakes a perfect, steering is absolutely intoxicating. If I were to pick my favorite part about this car it would be a toss up between the steering feel in hand, or the sensory of the engine over 4,500... together its magic.

All in all, its an entirely well preserved begging to be driven Porsche 911, from an incredibly valuable era of the Porsche Motorsports history. I've owned several cars, bought and sold them here and over other forums in the past, and can ensure you a seamless transaction. I care about the car, the person that winds up with it, and the comradely I've been exposed to in the porsche/vw world. This car has an identity for me and its important that its as well taken care of by the next owners as it has been to date. I have mentioned its very few faults to the best of both mine and my mechanics knowledge but please ask me any specific questions you have and I can do my best at answering them in a timely fashion BEFORE you bid. I would really like to avoid deadbeat and or otherwise "bored" eBay shoppers with no intention to honor their promise. The car is of course without warranty sold as-is etc. and the shipping will be the buyers sole responsibility. I will do everything in my power to assist in working with you and or your shipper should you need me to. Full payment should be done via wire, or check. Car will be released when funds are 100% cleared. Deposit due within 24 hours of auction end. Non-refundable, so please please ask questions and get permission and calculate your 401k payout or whatever you need to BEFORE you commit. I bought the car (though be it during a nicer season) from Missouri and excitedly drove it all the way home to Massachusetts when I found it. I don't hesitate to drive the car anywhere nor should you. That said, if you plan to ship it, please opt for enclosed shipping in respect for the car and to ensure its safe arrival. Titled and available for international shipment as well.

I have listed the car elsewhere and reserve the right to end the auction early. That said, I am also entertaining offers so please feel free to reach out to me directly. I am currently listing the car with a buy now price of $47,500 should you not want to run the risk of bidding/competing with other parties. Thanks for reading, and best of luck.
