This1990 Porsche 944 S2 cabriolet is finished in Guards Red over an off-white leather interior and was acquired by the myself approximately one year ago. Car shows 88,295 miles and is a very stock example aside from a dealer-installed aftermarket stereo system. Power comes from a naturally-aspirated 3.0-liter DOHC inline-four, which is paired to a rear-mounted 5-speed manual transaxle. Work completed one month ago includes four new tires and an oil/filter change, as well as brake and clutch fluid flushes. This 944 is offered with factory manuals, an original tool kit, a partially-stamped maintenance book, a clear Carfax, a car cover, and a clean California title.
No prior accidents and the 944 retains all of its factory paint and panels. A few smaller cosmetic imperfections are present. Four new Bridgestone S-02 tires were mounted and balanced on the factory 16″ polished alloy wheels around two weeks ago.
The convertible top is functional, and the black factory boot cover is included as pictured above.Inside, the leather upholstery shows wear commensurate with age on the driver's outer bolstering and thigh support, but is free of rips or tears front and rear.The dealer-installed stereo system utilizes an Alpine CD player, though the rest of the cabin is stock. All features are in good working order.
Under the hood is a 3.0-liter DOHC four-cylinder, which is equipped with variable valve timing and is mated to a 5-speed manual transaxle. The Carfax states that the timing belt was replaced in 2006, and the previous owner claimed that the timing belt and water pump were replaced again roughly two years ago, though no records are included. I had the belt and water pump inspected recently, and states that both appear to be in good condition with no leaks or visible wear. This 944 passed a California emissions test in April 2017.
The factory manuals are pictured above, and the maintenance book is stamped through September 7, 1995 when the car had 31,926 miles. Detailed pictures of the stamps can be seen in the photo gallery.The accident-free Carfax reports that this Porsche was sold new in New York and relocated to Ohio shortly thereafter. The car later moved back to New York before heading to Oregon, and it has resided in California since 2013. Consistent mileage readings and 16 service history records are also displayed.
