For auction is a Short Wheel Base (SWB) 1967 Porsche 912. The VIN shows it was built in 1966 and sold as a 1967 in the USA. Made on the Porsche assembly line (Not Karman line). Steering, brakes, suspension, shifting linkage and transmission play all look tight with very little play. I believe the odometer is original miles. It has no motor but has the complete rear engine mount. No gas tank. My plan was to get everything working, put in an engine, have it inspected and be back on the road. I have been going through the electric and much of it works. Turn signals, wipers, headlights, dash lights, fog light wiring, and still going through the rest. I have removed the ignition lock and have two key blanks. I flushed out the brake fluid and it is clear and calipers do not leak. Good firm pedal. Looks like everything is original. Still some carpet and rear seat tops are good. Headliner looks original but will need replacing. Rubber around the rear wing windows look great. Side windows roll up and down but don't have the handles.The bad: This car has been outside in the weather with no windshield or rear glass. As a result water has pooled in the floors, rocker panels and rear window corners. I do not have front seats. The floor pans are solid for the first two feet back so the pedal mounts only have surface rust and do not need to be messed with. The rest of the floor pans need to be replaced along with the inner and outer rocker panels and corners of the back window. All are readily available and relatively cheap. I found a supplier and will post a link. Looks like never in salt as all suspension/front metal/engine mounts and battery metal is almost perfect and solid. Wheel wells are great with original undercoat. I have the clock, ashtray and the Blaupunkt that was in it when I bought it. I found a period correct Sekruit rear window that is included.windshield. I do not have front seats. I do have the clock, ashtray and a Blaupunkt radio for it (not shown). I am down sizing or would not sell. I did some homework and apparently the 912 "short wheelbase" is what collectors want, made only 3 years and valued significantly higher than the "long wheelbase". This looks like all factory - no body panels replaced etc. Willing to bet the transmission is original to this car. On the housing is "902/1" serial number 234127. I'm posting a photo I found showing a swb 912 in my car's original color "sand beige". I have the dash and all 4 hubcaps. Please do your homework and look at photos carefully. I have tried to show the good and bad. International bidders please contact me before bidding. Ray

An ebayer asked me what the VIN is, what a salvage title is and if I would help with international shipping. The VIN is 354121. I know it looks short but this car was built before the long VINs came into being. A salvage title means that the vehicle was inspected by a law enforcement official and deemed to have a value of only scrap due to major missing parts, damage etc. They issue a "salvage title". The property owner where the vehicle was abandoned then sends a certified letter to the last registered owner. If the registered owner does not respond within 15 days the car becomes the property of the land owner. I bought this from the landowner as the registered owner did not respond. With the salvage title in hand you can send it to a scrap yard or work on it to get it roadworthy. This car is worth too much to send to a scrap yard. When roadworthy you take the salvage title and the car to the State Patrol to have it inspected to see all major components are working. Then they issue an inspection sheet. Then you take the title and the inspection form to a licensing agency who will then issue you a "rebuilt" title in your name. I am not an international shipper and don't know how to do it. I will deliver the car to the Pilot Truck Stop where car transports come and go almost daily.

Regarding the paint: The original sand beige is apparent behind the rear panel, inside the cab, in where the window molding were and where the black has been sanded through. The paint code is on the vin plate (in one of the photos). Looks like the black repaint was a professional job whenever but over the years it has faded. Also looks like some yahoo took an orbital sander to the black paint so it will need to be redone. There are a f ew spots that need light bodywork but obvious it has never been hit hard. The paint code on the vin matches sand beige. There are a couple internet sites that sell every patch the car needs to make it rust free. Good thing about this car is you can literally drop an engine in it finish the electrical get a windshield and drive it down the road. Then make it look pretty when you have time.
