This 1967 Porsche 912 Targa is a soft-window example in largely original condition with Sand Beige paint and a five-speed manual transmission. The car retains its original engine. Recent work has been performed on the valves, rockers and fuel pump as detailed below along with a tuneup, brake flush and new ball joint. The sale includes a Porsche COA, a good stack of service records back to 1995 and a clean title.
Sand Beige code 6607 is the car's original color and retains a good shine - it has not been gauged but its overall patina and lack of overspray or evidence of repair seem to be good indications of originality.
Trim is all present including a reproduction sideview mirror fitted in 2015 - other bright pieces show moderate pitting. Glass appears undamaged, while one front signal lens is faded, both taillights are crazed, and weatherstripping shows its age throughout. Factory optioned 15″ chrome wheels are oxidized and wear matching hubcaps and older Michelin tires.
The trunk area shows a matching chassis number, and a factory tool kit is included in the sale.
Inside, black leatherette seats are in good condition for a driver but show piping and cushion wear commensurate with age. The padded vinyl dash is apparently free of splits or damage, though a bit warped from age.
The speedometer was repaired in 2004 and now indicates just under 96k miles. Other instruments, controls and trim pieces have a general patina from use but appear complete minus a single dash knob. A 1970s Blaupunkt cassette player resides in the dash, while a more modern head unit is mounted underneath and supplies speakers cut into the door panels.
Out back, the 912's 1.6-liter flat four made for better distribution of less weight over the six-cylinder 911. The original, numbers-matching mill was pulled in 1999 at 72k miles for a partial overhaul, resurfacing and balancing - a 2009 compression test 22k miles later showed cold numbers at an even 150psi. Weber 40 carburetors have replaced the stock Solex units.
The engine number stamping matches the included COA and service paperwork. A February 2015 service included resurfacing of the rocker arms, valve shimming, new valve cover gaskets and fan belt, a tuneup and oil change and fuel pump seals. New decklid supports were also fitted.
Underneath, the optional 902 five-speed manual transaxle is working properly.
