Description:

1976 Porsche 912

For sale is a mechanically sound example of a Porsche 912/911 Outlaw. The car began as a one year only 1976 912E which shared the 911S "G-Series" bodywork featuring all of the body and chassis improvements accorded the 911 since ’69. The chassis boasts the first year Porsche began the use of a galvanized rust resistant body. The double silver vinyl stripping down the center of the car is removable. The car has spent most of its life in southern California before being transported to its new home in South Carolina approximately 2 years ago.
The car includes:
  • 5-speed manual gearbox
  • Independent 4 wheel suspension
  • 4 wheel disc brakes
  • 89.4” wheelbase
  • Factory Fuchs with 7 x 15 inch wheels in the front and 8 x 15 inch rears, all with no curb rash.
  • Tire in very good condition with 205/60x15's on all 4 corners.
The original 912E 4 cylinder motor was replaced with a 1972 911 T/2.4L flat six cylinder motor with mechanical fuel injection. The power output for the 911T was rated by the factory as 140 HP. The motor is estimated to now have approximately 80,000 in operating miles. The motor replacement took place approximately 10 years ago. In 1972, the 911 engine capacity was enlarged to 2341cc by using a longer stroke. The 911 2.4L motor benefited from the many improvements that had been made since the 1964 911. The 2.4L motor therefore is considered one of the best 'classical' 911's.
The interior is in excellent condition showing very little sign of wear. The dash is original and crack free. The door panels and pockets are original and are likewise in very good condition as is the carpeting. Seat has no rips or tears or excessive wear. The original Blaunpunkt radio has been replaced with an AM/FM/CD player which works well with the use of both front and rear speakers. The interior finished off with sun visors and RS ribbed rubber front floor mats. The windows are are equipped with manual windows and locks for trouble free operation and weight reduction as was the case with the Carrera RS. Windshield defroster works as it should. All gauges work as do lights and wipers with new blades.
The car is not intended to be an exact replica of the famous Carrera RS, but the car has several features inspired by the RS such a the ducktail motor lid and ribbed rubber front floor mats, ever lasting qualities of agility, lightness, balance, mechanical integrity, form following function, and classic Porsche design. Not for the purist, but will certainly be appreciated by those who enjoy theclean designand style.
