1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 coupe - 5 speed manual, excellent service history
1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 4
This is my 1990 Porsche 911 Carrera 4 coupe.I love this car – I love the 964 generation 911, specifically, as I feel it is the perfect blend of classic aesthete and modern practicality, combined with the fantastic sensations of driving an air-cooled Porsche.
I am selling this 911, along with two of my other cars, to make room for another 964: a turbo.I would not sell this car other than to make room for its more powerful – and more attractive – sibling.
This is a great example of a 911 C4: I have service records going back almost five years and it has been very well looked after.I have had it maintained at Autobahn Performance in Peabody MA since I acquired the car and I have ensured that all needs have been met.The significant work performed on the car over this time is as below, and all records are available. All routine maintenance is up to date with records.
·Engine re-seal with gasket set and ring job incl new studs – late 2012
·New clutch – late 2012
·New lighter-weight flywheel – late 2012
·Replace rear crankshaft seal – late 2012
·Serviced CV joints and replaced boots – late 2012
·Replace rear oil lines – mid 2013
·Re-seal front differential – early 2016
·Service steering rack and replace boots – early 2016
·Replace driver window regulator – early 2016
·Complete service of heating system – early 2016
·Essentially completely rebuilt sunroof system – mid 2016
·Converted AC to R-134a refrigerant – mid 2016
·Replaced front oil cooler and lines – late 2016
·Full brake job incl new front calipers, brake booster and lines – late 2016
·New ignition coils and positional switches – early 2017
·New drive belt and AC belt – early 2017
Here are some other points to note:
-Car presents very well.Negatives are:
oThere rocker trim piece on the passenger side is slightly askew, as shown in the picture. This is likely from a careless jacking/lifting.
oThe driver side underbody lift point is missing – again likely from the same cause. This cannot be seen and is only relevant when lifting the car.I keep the “perfectly sized” wooden block in the car to use in case of a tire change emergency.
oThe Cup style wheels are re-painted – they look fine but are not original.
oThe passenger side fog-light lens is cracked.Lights work correctly.
oSome minor scratches in paint from road debris as expected on a 27-year-old car.
-The car has no rust or corrosion.
-Everything works: all features – AWD works properly, diff lock works, AC, defrost, rear defog, cruise control, headlamp washers... no excuses.
-The exhaust is a cat-back unit with a deeper growl than standard.
-Tires are Pirelli P Zero Rossos that have <10K miles.
-The front seats have been reupholstered in high quality leather.
-The interior is in very good shape:
oDash has no cracks or scratches. No fading.
oAll leather surfaces are free from scuffs or tears.
oGauges are clear with no fading on faces or bezels.
oCarpeting is clean and plush.
oHeadliner is great.
oSteering wheel has no fading, scuffs, or tears.
oFront trunk is well kept with good carpeting.Spare wheel, compressor, etc are present.
-New OEM headlight lenses have been installed with Sylvania Siverstar zXe bulbs. These clear new lenses look very nice against the black body color.
-Audio system is new – I bought it with an aftermarket system that I replaced with a Kenwood KDC-BT562U head unit along with a new amp and new speakers all around installed in the original speaker locations. It has integrated Bluetooth for music and telephone.
-Valentine One radar detector direct wire power kit is installed – you can plug in your Valentine One detector and clip it over the passenger visor and it will power up and down with the ignition. The power cord is hidden and the plug is accessible at this visor location.
-Window tint is legal as per Massachusetts standards.
The car drives very well. The great 964 power-assisted steering is exactly as it should be.It revs more freely than stock due to the lighter flywheel, which is a common upgrade for these cars. The transmission shifts great. There are no leaks, drips etc. Please take a look through the photos – I have tried to capture all that I can from above and below.
If you want a very nice 964 C4 in the best color (IMHO) I think this is it.It has been professionally cared for by specialists with very thorough records.Everything works as it should. If not for the 964 Turbo I would not sell this car – it really is excellent. Please ask any questions you may have.
