1982 Pontiac Firebird, 2.8L/V6, THM-200 Transmission
1982 Pontiac Firebird
FOR SALE - 1982 Pontiac Firebird (3rd generation, 2.8L/V6, THM-200) has been a very dependable and great running car for the 24+ years I've owned it. Though the Firebird still cruises right along, the reality is with 186,500+ miles, it's getting tired and is in need of a renewal/restoration. I have 2 other projects that are taking my time and $$$s, I do not want it to sit furthering its decay, consequently I have decided to sell it. Please keep in mind if your bidding... its 42 years old!!!Brief history: I purchased the car in the late 1990s in Chesapeake VA for my daughter. The Firebird was primarily used as a daily driver back & forth to school/college in western NJ/southeastern PA area for a couple of years. Ownership was transferred back to me (in NY state) in 2001. Since then, the Firebird has only been driven during the summer months averaging a couple thousand miles a year, fueled with non-ethanol gas, and barn stored (wood floor) during the winter months. The only major mechanical work was performed at purchase: transmission overhauled/master kit installed, base/oil pan dropped/installed new rod & crank shaft bearings. The engine compartment still has all its original emission equipment (carburetor, air cleaner, air pump, valves/tubes (pic 40)).Cosmetically the Firebird is in great condition considering its age (pics 1 -> 6). The roof had considerable rust issues in the seams which were repaired (car was repainted as well) about 20 years ago, however it appears as though rust may be bleeding through the paint once again and the clearcoat is wearing off (pics 29, 35). Rust is beginning to bubble the paint as well on the hood (pics 31, 32, 33), its webbing/underside, rear hatch (pic 34), passenger door (pic 30) and paint is cracking on the vinyl front bumper (pic 36).The interior, much of it original, is in good to very good condition (pics 7 -> 18). The latch on the center console arm rest/compartment lid is broken and doesn't stay closed (pic 9).The Chassis: Overall is in good to very good condition, the passenger side is in excellent condition (pics 26). The floor pan directly under the driver seat has a rust issue, multiple views/angles are provided in pics 23, 24, 25.Known issues: A/C is not working; however, all the equipment is there. The Check Engine light frequently blinks ON & OFF, usually depending on driving conditions. Transmission pan gasket is leaking, needs replacement. Rear hatch struts/shocks are weak and don't hold hatch open. Tires have good tread and appear to be in good condition; however, they are very old (15+ years). There is some damage to the oil pan/base, appears as though the car either bottomed out or was jacked up using the pan (pic 20) instead of the cross member.Firebird Owners and Repair manuals are included.Thank you for looking.BIDDERS: *** IMPORTANT.... If you have less than 5 EBAY transactions, CONTACT ME through the EBAY Message System PRIOR TO BIDING, otherwise I will delete your bid and block you from future bidding. ***PAYMENT: DEPOSIT of $300 - within 48 hours of the auction end. BALANCE of Payment - within 7 days: CASH at pickup or PAYPAL if shipped. BANK CHECK or USPS MONEY ORDER MUST CLEAR MY BANK BEFORE TITLE TRANSFER or CAR PICKUP/SHIPPING!!!!BUYER is responsible for pickup or arranging shipment. The Firebird can be driven; however, distance and age of the car should be factored in the decision. A DMV Transfer/Transport Plate would be required.SOLD AS IS, NO WARRANTIES ARE IMPLIED, NO REFUND, SALE IS FINAL.
