1965 Pontiac Le Mans

Here is a highly modified 1965 Pontiac GTO Tribute car which is a blast to drive. The engine is strong and smooth and the High Performance 700 R4 transmission shifts firmly. This car according to Pontiac Historical records indicate it to be a car that was originally shipped as a 326 H.O. 4speed car. The car has been rebadged as a GTO but there is almost nothing original on this car as everything has been modernized and upgraded with the best parts, professionally installed. This is why we put the mileage at 1000 in this listing. We arehelping a widow sell this car as she knows very little about it. The car is very well documented with binders full of receipts. The impeccable customization work includes the following:

·Rack and pinion steering

·Restored frame with sections boxed for extra strength

·Currie Ford 9” rear axle with 3:50 gear and Trac-Loc

·Airpod air ride suspension and shocks with a dedicated trunk mount battery

·Receipts show the 400 Cubic Inch Pontiac was professionally rebuilt. It runs great.

·GM 700 R4 High Performance Transmission with B&M shifter and a programmable lock up converter

·F.A.S.T. (Fuel-Air-Spark-Technologies) EFI system

·Right Stuff 4-wheel disc brakes

·March Polished Serpentine Belt System

·MSD Crank Triggered Ignition

·Hooker headers with ceramic coating

·Vintage Air A/C

·Speedhut Custom Gauges

·16” Center Line wheels

·More

The car is owned by a widow whose husband died a couple years ago. Only her husband and the guy that helped him build it know the details, and the guy who helped is unavailable. I have restored several cars in my lifetime and I have a good friend who is a Pontiac collector. Together we have spent considerable time over, under and inside this car evaluating its construction, taking pictures and reviewing invoices. We’re impressed with the quality of the parts and the workmanship. It took a while to get it to start as it had been sitting for more than 2 years and the batteries were bad (which we’ve replaced). There is also an anti-theft device we had to figure out. The F.A.S.T. system is still learning the engine and the car now runs well but needs to be driven. When we took it out to drive it around a couple times it drew many smiles and thumbs up from on lookers. It is an unbelievable car with incredible power on tap.

We found no evidence of rust underneath or on the bottoms oft he doors. However, there are a couple areas of concern. The paint has started to bubble where the roof pillar and the top of the rear quarter panel meet and we’re not sure why. Also, we found the B&M shifter to be very hard to operate and a quick Google search revealed this to be a common problem with this shifter on a 700 R4. The windows are hard to roll down, a common problem with these old Pontiacs. The car is located near Dayton Ohio.
