1972 Pontiac Lemans GT
1972 Pontiac Le Mans
I'm listing this car on behalf of the original owner. He purchased this car new in May of 1972, three months before his wedding. He drove it to graduate school at UW Madison, then to Kentucky, and finally to New Hampshire where he taught until retirement. He then moved back to his hometown where they now reside in southwest WI. This was his only car while getting his education, raising a family and establishing a career. He wanted a GTO but, being a student, that was out of his price range. He decided, instead, on a Lemans GT that he optioned as close as he could to a GTO including the Endura bumpers. The car you see here is that very car, restored as it was when new. He was meticulous with the car and maintenance of this car when new and carried that enthusiasm through the years right up until his decision to have a full frame-off restoration performed by Muscle Car Restoration of Chippewa Falls WI in 2010.
The crew at Muscle Car Restoration completely disassembled, chemically dipped, repaired any rust and then dipped the body again to completely seal the metal. Everything was rebuilt to stock specs including the engine( dyno sheets available), transmission and differential. The interior restoration was performed in house by MCR and, incredibly, the interior door panels were reused and look terrific!
The wheels and tires currently on the car are 15 inch, but the original 14 inch date coded and restored wheels are included, shod with Polyglas tires. He has driven the car approximately 2000 miles since restoration and everything is sorted out. He competed in a Pontiac National meet and received a Top 5 honor. The quality of the car is amazing. We have over 1000 before, during and after pictures available.
