This is an extremely nice, low mileage, numbers matching, unmodified 1977 Pontiac Trans Am….but there’s more….

Vehicle Details

If you know Trans Ams, you know that the 77-78 model is the most desirable Trans Am of all time. Of the 77 and 78 models, the 77 is typically more preferred because IT was the Smokey and the Bandit car(Thanks Burt!). As a result, the 77s are harder to come by and bring more money than any other model. If you think about it, that really means something because Trans Ams of any year were in a league of their own. To be more impressed, read on… because this one is a SUPER nice version and even MORE rare than a typical 77 bird.

First, this a fully documented, owner’s manual included, low mileage, numbers matching, unmolested original Trans Am with the much preferred 6.6 litre Pontiac 400 V8 motor, not the smaller V8 or 403 smog motor.

Does it look nice? Yes. It is beautiful. The Martinique Blue paint is very slick and glossy. It had a very nice repaint years ago, and you’d be hard pressed to find a chip or a scratch on it anywhere, even on the front end. The only way that you can tell that the paint job is not new, is that the hood emblem is showing a little age if you get close enough to see it, but you have to look close. The tires are brand new 2023 Cooper Cobras with raised white lettering, the way you’d have done it back in the day.

Is the interior nice? Yes. Probably the nicest one you’ll ever see on any classic Trans Am without spending a TON of money on a virtually undriven one. The original leather seats are extremely nice and look new. The dash is extremely nice with no cracks. The headliner is extremely nice. The glove compartment door is extremely nice. The center console is extremely nice. The seatbelts are there, they’re nice and they work. It has tilt steering. The power steering is smooth and works very well. The power door locks work well. The power windows work and are very fast. All of the glass is clean and clear without scratches or cracks. The list goes on.. The wipers work. The horn works. The door buzzer works. The blower motor works. The turn signals work. Brake lights, headlights and high beams… it all works. Everything is exceptionally nice on this car. Wait, there’s more. It even has the original GM factory installed CB radio intact!

The factory spare tire is in the trunk. The trunk pan is nice, original, and rust free. Factory exhaust. Factory catalytic converters. Factory mufflers. All of it. The undercarriage is clean, solid, original, rust free and has no patch panels. Impressed yet?

But here’s what you’ve probably NEVER seen or even knew existed…

Power door lock switches on the DASH.

Go ahead and take a break from this ad to go look for some on another TA. You may find a single switch in its place, but that’s a defrost switch, not the door locks. Most of the 77-78 cars left out there don’t have power windows and door locks to begin with. The ones that do, probably don’t work or don’t work well. Yes that’s an easy fix, but that’s not all. Theres a reason that you can’t find the door lock switches on the dash of other TAs. This option was discontinued early in 1977. The later 77s and all 78s with power locks had them in the doors, not the dash. (A lot of classic car dealers don’t even know this because they’ve never seen them either, but you can research to find that it exists). Good luck finding another one of these cars at all, much less one where the switches aren’t broke, scratched, or missing. So even if you take this car to a TA meet with lots of other TAs around, your car is going to stand out.

Collectability aside though, this car runs, handles, and drives the way it would have the day you bought it in 1977. As you can see in the pictures, it is a beautiful car and highly collectible. It’s not perfect but it’s pretty close. The hood needs adjusting. The passenger door needs adjusting. It needs a radio. And for some dumb reason whoever had it painted didn’t put the wheel flares back on it after the repaint. I was planning on putting the larger Year One flush mount flares on it, but I decided to sell the car and pay off my land.

Please note that this car will also be for sale locally, so I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Feel free to text me with any questions you may have. 803-748-6536

I will listen to offers, but NO I will not take 25k for it. I MIGHT think about trades, but I already have most of the classic cars I’ve ever wanted aside from a 68-72 GTO. I’m pretty fond of pro street cars too. I really like any performance car, I just tend to stick with classics. In either case, it would have to be a running and driving car, not a project or rust bucket for me to consider it…..

But I really need to pay that land off, so don’t tempt me LOL.

Thanks for looking and happy bidding!!!
