1951 Pontiac Other
ForSale is this fine example of a 1951 Pontiac Custom Two-door HardtopCoupe. I have owned it since 2017 and have had the pleasure ofadding a few repairs and upgrades to the car to get it ever closer tobeing near close to new again. The engine and transmission were bothrebuilt by a previous owner (I have his receipt) and a fist full moreof maintenance history. I have only driven the car sparingly duringmy ownership, probably have added no more than 300 miles if eventhat. Most recently during my tenure, the front suspension was 100%rebuilt with all new OEM Pontiac parts – rare, expensive and noteasy to find. The steering gear box has been rebuilt with new sealsand gaskets and adjusted properly. Steering is tight and precise asit was when new. The heater valve assembly was rebuilt by Cold AirProducts to operate the heater beneath the seat properly and withoutany leaks. The original radiator was replaced with a new custombuilt aluminum radiator that has all the correct angles and sizes forthe hoses. Wiring in the car has been replaced from front to back. The generator was replaced with a new 6-volt alternator for quickcharges and thus eliminated the need for the old voltage regulator. The ignition was up-graded to solid state which eliminated the olddistributor points. The car starts super easy and drivesbeautifully. The 4-speed automatic transmission shifts through allthe gears as it should. I had the clock professionally rebuilt. Theoriginal radio “hums” but does not play. I have been told itneeds a couple of new “6V6” tubes to make it functional again, but I've never been interested in having a radio on while out andabout. A power brake booster with new master cylinder has beeninstalled. The car stops on the proverbial dime! New brake shoesand cylinders have been installed on all four corners. The pinionseal on rear end has just been replaced and fluid replaced in thediff. A new fuel tank with new sender has been installed. The fuelgauge stopped responding when it was recently rewired and, due to myhealth concerns now, I just have not been able to track down what isnot properly connected. I just had the interior redone with newmaterial on the seats to match the correct colors and originalpattern. They sit firm and very comfortably. The floor carpets arebrand new and were custom made. Most of the chrome has beenre-plated and the rest is in OK condition. This is not a show carbut is a head-turning quality driver. The frame is clean and notrusty as this was, from what I can tell from previous documents was awestern car. It came from Texas when I acquired it. The trunk isclean and solid. It has not been in water/rain/snow in many years, resides in a dry garage. If I now could, I would not hesitate to drive thisbeautiful old Chief anywhere without any worries of over heating ormechanical failures. No warranties expressed. Questions and inspections welcomed! I'm positive I have omitted a few important improvements this old guy has received under my care. Shipping at buyer's responsibility. Title will be released when funds are received either electronically or after a National Brand Bank's official check clears.
