1989 Pontiac Grand Prix SE

his is the one! If you have ever wanted one of these--this is it. Likely one of the nicest examples in existence. With just 19,423 original miles and lovingly cared for it's entire life, this car is literally showroom new! Motor Trend's 1988 Car of the Year and the Grand Prix “brochure car” for 1989, it was purchased new at Axelrod Pontiac (now Axelrod Buick-GMC) in Parma, OH by Donald N. as a surprise gift for his wife, Carmela.Unfortunately, Carmela didn’t like the Grand Prix and refused to drive it! So Donald kept it in their garage driving just occasionally on sunny weekend days until early 2020 when he finally decided to let it go and sold it to a Nick D. in nearby Strongsville, OH. Nick was an avid Firebird collector but just couldn’t pass up on this pristine Grand Prix.In the summer of 2021 needing room for more Firebird’s, Nick had to part with the car which is when we purchased it with 18,745 miles on it. Unfortunately, we now simply have too many “toys in the toybox” so we must let this amazing survivor go on to it’s next caretaker. This pristine Grand Prix SE has every single option available in 1989 except for leather interior and a sunroof. And everything works – all power accessories, lights, gauges, etc., work as intended. A/C blows nice and cold. Compass/information center works flawlessly. The only thing not working is the power door locks and we have opted not to monkey with it and manage just fine locking and unlocking the doors manually. If you know this car, you know this was the era when GM went “button-crazy”. I have counted 78 separate buttons and switches in the car for everything from sound system, lights, wipers, HVAC and ELEVEN buttons just for the many seat operations. And don’t forget the TWELVE buttons on the steering wheel AND the wacky combination-lock glovebox! This car has the larger optional 3.1 liter V6 which provides ample power and even a nice throaty growl through the dual exhaust. This is the epitome of late 80’s automotive style with its orange digital dash, body-colored wheels and graphic-equalizer equipped stereo with cassette player!Documentation includes original window sticker, owners manual and other orignial sales documents as well as invoices for service. The photos speak for themselves – the car is in truly pristine condition. Inspections welcome.Vehicle is sold as-is, where-is with no warranty express or implied. Shipping is responsibility of the buyer. $500 deposit due via PayPal within 24 hours of end of auction. Balance due within 7 days - wire transfer or cash only. International buyers welcome.
