1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am

This 1970 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am is powered by a replacement 455ci V8 paired with a Tremec five-speed manual transmission and is finished in white with blue stripe decals over a blue interior. Equipment includes a Positraction rear end, shaker hood, front and rear spoilers, PMD 15″ wheels, four-wheel disc brakes, a Holley 650-cfm carburetor, and a dual exhaust system. The car was acquired by the seller in California in 2008, and work in the last seven years has since consisted of a bare-metal repaint, an interior refresh, and an engine rebuild. This Trans Am is now offered with records from the seller, copies of the build sheets, the removed four-speed manual transmission, and a clean California title in the seller’s name.
Finished from the factory in Polar White, the car was stripped to bare metal and repainted by Premier Collision Center of Van Nuys, California in 2019, and photos and invoices from the work are provided in the gallery. Features include front and rear spoilers, a shaker hood scoop, fender vents, and dual side mirrors. A replacement windshield was installed and blue stripe and “Trans Am” decals were applied to the body.
PMD 15″ wheels are wrapped in 245/60 Mastercraft Avenger G/T tires. Braking is handled by four-wheel discs and the car is equipped with power steering. The parking brake cable was replaced in 2017.
The cabin was reportedly refreshed with components sourced from Classic Industries during current ownership and features front bucket seats and a rear bench reupholstered in blue vinyl, along with a replacement dashboard and blue carpets. Additional interior work included replacing the trunk mat, heater core, headliner, kick panels, and parcel shelf. The radio has been removed.
A replacement three-spoke steering wheel fronts an engine-turned instrument panel that houses a 160-mph speedometer and a tachometer along with auxiliary gauges displaying oil pressure, water temperature, fuel level, and battery voltage. The five digit odometer shows 55k miles, approximately 4k of which were added by the current owner. Total mileage is unknown.
The replacement 455ci V8 was rebuilt and bored 040″ over by Maeco Motorsport of Bend, Oregon in December 2015. The engine is equipped with a Holley 650-cfm carburetor, an aftermarket camshaft, roller rockers, headers, a dual exhaust system, an Edelbrock water pump, and polished valve covers.
Power is delivered to the rear wheels via a Tremec five-speed manual transmission equipped with a Hurst shifter and an aluminum flywheel along with a Positraction rear end with 3.55:1 gearing. Additional underside photos are available in the gallery below. The removed four-speed manual transmission has been rebuilt and is included in the sale.
